I watched the bond trial live, I listened to all of the pundits, and my conclusion is that Zimmerman's "apology" was self-serving, played to the judge and the media. My personal belief is that his incarceration has curtailed his "coon hunting," and he regrets that. Nothing else. Just that.

The message he conveyed was that Trayvon's parents felt the "apology" was for the judge and the media.

There was also discussion over the wording "sorry for the loss of your son" versus "sorry I murdered your son."

It wasn't a "loss."

It was murder. You experience "loss" when someone is murdered but if I temporarily lose my car keys, it's not the same as having a member of my family murdered by a "self-apointed neighborhood watch captain."

"Murdered" admits guilt. He clearly does not want to admit guilt, as he does not want to go to jail. Their whole legal argument is based on being justified in his actions, as I understand it. But even if that were not the case, I doubt any lawyer on earth would recommend their client say "I murdered".

But as far as I can tell, everyone agrees that he killed Trayvon. And if you felt justified in your actions, you could own them and still feel bad for the parents. "I'm sorry I killed your son" would fit.

Seems to me that while this is a play for the media and judge, it actually works against him, as it shows he does not feel justified in his actions, that he does feel guilty. Or he could apologize without trying to disassociate himself from them..

1). When he was asked why it took him 50 days to show remorse ("I don;t understand the question&quot , and

2). When he CLAIMED he expressed remorse to one of the original investigating officers. As the prosecuting attorney said, "SO...we'll see that in the transcripts, then."

I also loved the fact that Pappy Zim said he ALWATS BELIEVED his son but didn't read that part in the past police report (when Zimmerman assaulted the cop) where the cop identified himself and Zimmerman said "I don't give a fuck WHO you are" and assaulted him anyway.

Zimmerman also put the noose around his own neck when asked if he had "changed his story" and he shot back "ABSOLUTELY NOT." All of his "stories" are on record.

14. His apology was a joke

The part where he said that he wasn't sure if Trayvon was armed and appeared to be around his age. Of course if he had been armed or Zimmerman thought for a second he was armed why on earth would he approach him. Zimmerman knew all along the kid wasn't armed and that's why he chased after him. I am sure that once he had the boy on the ground and he pulled out his gun he had to use it. After all carrying a loaded gun while chasing after someone just isn't complete unless you use the gun.

The part where his father and mother claimed that he did all kinds of charity work in mostly minority neighborhoods as if to prove he wasn't a racist sack of shit was even more pathetic than the apology. Zimmerman parents claim he is a person that has never harmed anyone, yet two prior arrests, including domestic violence assault against a woman and attacking a police officer would seem to indicate just the opposite. In fact much of Zimmerman's past seems to indicate that he is someone who has an anger problem and has a problem with authority. Probably why he ignored the 911 officers commands not to pursue after Martin and the reason he was carrying a gun in the first place.
