Thom revealed that at the end of his show today. Thus, Karl Frisch of Media Matters and Bullfight Strategies will fill in on Monday and Tuesday while Louise undergoes the medical procedures and Thom and the family stick together. K&R if you appreciate all the work Thom has done to reclaim democracy and fight right-wing lies and wish him and family well in this trying time.

I hope you get to talk to some survivors. A lot has changed in treatment and cures for the better. Good luck to you both and Thom, Louise will need you now!
I will be saying prayers for her.

(4,982 posts)I watch Thom almost every day - he's a great source for well-researched, factual news that most of the media either ignores or glosses over without going in-depth at all - or worse, completely and deliberately mis-reports.
But Thom if you see this, don't rush back to the set or the microphone, man. We'll all be here when Louise recovers!

(81,295 posts)The other bummer for me is that I have to hear about this here on DU.
The Thom Hartmann Show seems to have disappeared from KTLK in middays. There's a different show on now. I don't know what happened. And my favorite local media site, LARadio.com, shut down at the end of the year. That would have been one way I'd have heard about the programming change. The replacement is so-so. Hard to beat Thom Hartmann. I miss listening to him. I always learned something.
alp227
(32,025 posts)And I don't know any other AM station in LA that coyld take his show other than KPFK, a non commercial Pacifica station. Marginally, KFI could if enough listeners spoke up.
calimary
(81,295 posts)Damn! I wish he'd have stayed put!
And I know what you mean about KFI. Useless. Hopeless! Probably gonna have to wait til that whole miserable era is over. The PD's well-entrenched and rendered pretty invulnerable by the cushion of her success. But nothing lasts forever.
I was once told I should go talk to her myself, since I used to be in radio. It would have been a waste of time. She wouldn't be interested in adding someone like me on the air there. They don't do liberal - except maybe for target practice.

(14,887 posts)LA market - which extends well beyond LA. But that's the time zone thing.
Agree - most disheartening to read rather than hear.
All good healing thoughts to Louise - (she has great music instincts/tastes.)
All will be well and whole and the prognosis will be good.

(81,295 posts)This isn't easy - even when it's caught early and when there are treatments and new developments available that are increasingly effective.
But DAMN! The L.A. market with Thom Hartmann on the air. Can't believe it!

(1 post)I have been listening to your show for many years----it is the best. Louise, I know what dynamic contributions you make. I have strong admiration for all that you and Thom do for this country.
21 years ago I had breast cancer. After a lumpectomy I never did chemo. I have never had any problems since. I had the good fortune of having Dr. Emanuel Revici as my doctor. He was 91 at the time. Einstein met him and said that he was the most brilliant man he ever met. He rewrote the periodic tables. His work is still being done by a doctor in Ny. Check with the author of this book about what doctors are continuing his work if you are interested. You won't put this book down. Check with Congressman Peter Defazio who knew and fought for him. Also, Gary Null is a big fan of Dr. Emanuel Revici's.
Thom, you probably know of his work already. William Kelly Eidem wrote the book.
Here is the web site for the book about Dr. Emanuel Revici's life, his cures, his amazing success rate and especially how the cancer industry tried to destroy him----you could have guessed that one.
I understand that Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski of TX is a great alternative MD.
I grew up in Michigan. Also, I had quite the incarnation in Washington, D.C.that lasted decades.
I hope that this information helps.
Bless you both. Sara in Santa Barbara

(19,537 posts)You helped me and my Mom go through some very tough times when speaking at a church service we attended in San Diego many years back when my Dad appeared to be headed for the higher plane too. I recall your gracious note back to me and thank you then. Now my mom's health is suffering this last last year too and she might not have long either. I want to wish you and Louise the best in getting through these tough times and getting healthy again.
Just two weeks ago today learned my 18+ year old cat who has been my "family" for so long as a single person here in Portland had failing kidneys and subsequently on Monday while I was on a week long business trip that she had cancer too. I basically had a day to say goodbye to her exactly a week ago as I type this and therefore I'd like to think I understand some of the feelings you must be feeling now, though with your wife it still is so much more than I've had to deal with last week.
I really hope that they caught this on time and you and she can be each other many years from now.

(75,480 posts)way. I didn't get to hear the end of the show on Friday and I just saw this post. They are such a good and loving couple for all the wonderful work they do. Hang in their Thom. We do have a great medical system when you can access it and I'm hoping your insurance is every bit as good as Dick Cheney's. Louise, take some time off to heal. Don't even think about politics. If you have to do chemo, medical marijuana is really good for the lack of appetite and nausea. If you can't get it in DC, come to California.

(248 posts)I live in L.A. where we used to get Thom from 9-12. They replaced him with second rate hosts. Maybe he was too brainy, or possibly even a threat to the corporate interests who seem to control the media. Thom is one of the smartest people around. He truly loves Louise and it comes across. I hope it was caught early and she can be healed. My thoughts are with Louise,
Thom, their family, and all the worried fans who listen and watch.
