Polish playground bans Winnie the Pooh for ‘dubious sexuality’

http://blog.sfgate.com/sfmoms/2014/11/21/polish-playground-bans-winnie-the-pooh-for-dubious-sexuality/

He’s addicted to honey, gets stuck in holes and wears no pants. What’s more, Winnie the Pooh seems to be a hermaphrodite.

A Polish playground is making news headline for declaring the huggable bear inappropriate for children.

The character beloved by kids across the globe was set to become the face of a new playground in the small town of Tuszyn but the idea was nixed at a council meeting, according to the Croatian Times.

Conservative members declared Pooh Bear a bad choice because it’s of ”dubious sexuality” and ”half naked” and ”inappropriately dressed.”

cartoon bears:

Paddington -- no pants, just rain coat, boots and hat

Yogi the Bear -- a hat and a tie, steals pic-a-nic baskets, and leads Yoga practice, apparently

Boo Boo Bear - bowtie only

Smokey Bear -- blue jeans and belt, no shirt, ranger hat, shovel

this whole thing may also explain why bears don't go out much in winter -- they just don't have the right clothes for it.

We didn't have Build-A-Bear when I was a kid. No teddy bears had pants. Is it expected now?

the damned bears?

What about Porky Pig, who also never wore pants, and was probably even more disturbing in all his glorious pink-ness.

Bugs Bunny never wore anything at all!!!

And Casper the friendly ghost!!!

Gumby and Pokey!!!

Well, OK, technically Pokey is a horse, so he can be excused. But GUMBY???? Little green pervert exhibitionist, that's what HE was!!

They've just ruined my entire childhood.
