Kobach Wonders If Hispanic Majority Would Conduct 'Ethnic Cleansing' In U.S.
Submitted by Miranda Blue on Thursday, 11/20/2014 12:53 pm
Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, a leader in the anti-immigrant movement, said during his Sunday radio program that its possible that a Hispanic majority in the U.S. could conduct an ethnic cleansing. Kobach made his remarks in response to a caller who asked, What happens, if you know your history, when one culture or one race or one religion overwhelms another culture or race? Claiming that immigrant rights groups are calling for the return of the Spanish territory, which could be almost half of the United States, the caller warned, When one race or culture overwhelms another culture, they run them out or they kill them. And its a bigger issue than just being Democrats. And they know in numbers, once the numbers are so bad, they can pretty much do whatever they want to do. What protects us in America from any kind of ethnic cleansing is the rule of law, of course, Kobach responded. And the rule of law used to be unassailable, used to be taken for granted in America. And now, of course, we have a president who disregards the law when it suits his interests. So, while I normally would answer that by saying, Steve, of course we have the rule of law, that could never happen in America, I wonder what could happen. I still dont think its going to happen in America, but I have to admit, things are strange and they are happening.

This is what they are.

(34,648 posts)Guilty conscience. He expects retribution for the sins of our founding fathers and revenge for the genocides and ethnic cleansing that the white population undertook in the past to make this nation comfortable for people like him and hell for others. He is afraid that they in the future will be no better than the the folks who initiated the race war in the past. I understand the fear. What goes up, must come down. Artificial supremacy based on physical appearance cannot last forever. Competing on a level playing field will become the standard regardless of of the fight to hold onto privilege.

Back in the 'eighties my own Wild West white grandfather was upset when I married, in his words, "A Mexican girl," and he didn't attend our wedding. But to his credit he got over that.
Biologically there never was such a thing as "race." Homo sapiens have always been mix and match, and culturally it's always been best to celebrate the good, and discard the rotten.
Racism is always rotten.

(2,004 posts)The Hispanic people came for the jobs in the agriculture and meat packing industries. From what I could see traveling through that part of Kansas, they make up the majority of the population in the areas around the meat packing industry. They are dismembered and die to provide the corporations massive profits by keeping those jobs with unions so they can pay low wages and very poor job safety. If those folks are no longer in terror of being deported then they can organize for decent pay and working conditions.
No wonder the people who own Kobach want him to say these offensive statements about our Hispanic brothers and sisters. Seems to me the people who suffered the most from ethnic cleansing and racism are the minorities whose lives and economic vitality have been sacrificed to enrich a few people.
