"The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) includes an array of new corporate investment rights and protections that are unprecedented in scope and power. NAFTA allows corporations to sue the national government of a NAFTA country in secret arbitration tribunals if they feel that a regulation or government decision affects their investment in conflict with these new NAFTA rights. If a corporation wins, the taxpayers of the "losing" NAFTA nation must foot the bill.

Glad you're here! Stunning and really gratifying after the horrible election earlier this month. The first showdown and WE win it. How 'bout that!

STAND FIRM, MR. PRESIDENT!!!! Now, AND through the rest of this shit! Two years. That's all they've got. TWO YEARS, mitch. You'll just be settling in when we come and yank it back away from you. Knock yerself out, pal, 'cause you've only got two years. and the whole time you'll be scratching the teabagger fleas that will be infesting the Senate. Don't get too used to it, pal. You assholes will be back in the minority after we get through with you in 2016. I heard a report last night, on Lawrence O'Donnell's show I think, that Democrats have only one Senate seat to defend in 2016, when our crowd tends to show up big time anyway because it's a Presidential cycle. The bad guys have 20+ Senate seats to defend next time. Lawrence O'Donnell quoted from a GOP activist who predicted this exact fate for his party. Including their continuing expected exile from the White House.

So let's not prove that poor man to be a liar, shall we? Let's make damn sure his will have been a most accurate forecast. By then, who knows? Maybe if she remains a non-candidate, Elizabeth Warren will become Senate Majority Leader - OR Senate Whip.

now to keep up the fight!

Friends,

Congratulations: thanks to your calls, emails and actions, a bill to force approval of the Keystone XL pipeline just failed to pass the Senate. Again.

Even counting the new climate-denying members who will take seats in January, Big Oil could not override a Presidential veto of Keystone XL next year.

He has the support he needs -- from us, and from the facts. The only question is whether the President will hold true to his own climate test.

Last week the President struck a historic climate agreement with China. Approving Keystone XL now would be like pledging to quit smoking and then buying a new carton of cigarettes. Rejecting the pipeline would be a bold step forward to meet his new goals. Can you send a message to the President that now is the time to reject the pipeline?

http://act.350.org/sign/reject-keystone-xl-now/?rd=1&t=1&referring_akid=5592.2026843.m2QcbA

Over the last week, we've flooded the Senate phone lines. Today, activists occupied the offices of two Democrats, Senator Bennet and Senator Carper, who joined with Big Oil in supporting the pipeline. The pressure worked.

Next year we will face new obstacles -- incoming Majority Leader McConnell already promised today that it will be a top priority of the next Senate, but it appears he won't have the votes to override a veto.

Now is the time for leadership. President Obama should end this debate and reject the Keystone XL pipeline. This week he said "I won’t hide my opinion about this, which is that one major determinant of whether we should approve a pipeline shipping Canadian oil to world markets, not the United States, is does it contribute to the greenhouse gases that are causing climate change."

That can only point to rejection. An 830,000 barrel per day pipeline of the world's dirtiest oil will obviously contribute to climate change.

Rejecting the pipeline would show the President's commitment to action, and open a new chapter in the fight against climate change.

It's time.
