Who's watching them now anyway?

Back when they started, many people went to work from 9 to 5, and most people actually still lived fairly close to their jobs, so people could watch the Today Show, have coffee at home, and still make it to work on time
That way of life ended ages ago for 99.99999% of us.

The show was loaded up with "girl-stuff" to keep the women interested as they imparted tidbits of news into the mix, since the "gals" would soon be leaving the "real world" once the Soaps-Day started.

The nightly news came on during the time that the "little woman" was making dinner, so this might be the only chance all day that a woman could see some "news"...and maybe they could interest her in some new gadget during commercials.
