Yes, yes, I know it's a private school and they have the right to do this. Yadda, yadda, yadda.

Alright fine, they have the right to do it, but I also have the right to oppose what they do and to criticize the policy.

The whole abstinence until marriage thing is one thing if it is a message delivered to teenagers (if i had teenagers, I would not want them to have sex either), but quite another when dealing with fully grown adults. Christian fundamentalists do not live in the real world.

By and large, I view the whole abstinence thing as a message best delivered to teenagers and leave the rest of us alone, thank you.

Teens have an active libido and a need for both affection and experience.

A better idea is to teach them how not to ruin their lives by getting pregnant, and by teaching them why getting pregnant will ruin their lives.

Abstinence is an impossible goal, and always has been.

given that they seem to feel she would HAVE to bear the child. Would they likewise fire her for being pregnant sans marriage?

I hate this crap. That whole "judge not lest ye be judged" thing seems to be conveniently ignored in so many of these "born agains"...

4. Perhaps not the lesson the school administrators wanted to teach

I suspect the school wanted to show their students that there are consequences to "immoral" behavior. However the lesson I get from this is that there are churches who put a higher value on punishment than on the livelihood of a single mother and her unborn child.

This is not what Jesus would have done.

There are probably some private/church schools whose board members/teachers or counselors have also been charged with pedophilia.

Why is it they are so hung up on sex? That's all the think/talk about...other than guns.
