TN bill allows for homicide and assault prosecutions for the death of embryos

The state House of Representatives approved a bill allowing homicide and assault prosecutions for the death of embryos in the earliest stages of development, in a vote tinged by the decades-long fight over abortion.

House lawmakers voted 80-18 for a measure that would extend criminal punishments for killing a fetus to the first eight weeks of pregnancy.

Supporters said the bill would clarify a law passed last year that made it easier to prosecute people for harming fetuses.

Opponents said charges of harming an embryo will be difficult to prove because many pregnancies end naturally at that stage. They suggested the measure really is meant to set up future battles over abortion.

Did they provide cover for them in this bill? I didn't see it mentioned in the article. Do all those frozen embryos have to be implanted? How do the medicos dispose of the unused ones?

but won't it be childless, married couples forced to bear these embryos? Marriage is for procreation only, you know.... and single parents are "abusers", especially single women! (I know I am blending the wing-nuttery from two states, but you see where I am going).

edit... verb tense correction

authoritarian control freaks. I often wonder if it's the Christian persecution complex that drives some people unconsciously to vote them into office, they unconsciously want to be punished, and then say thank you, isn't so and so right-winger a great family man.
