A quote from Harry S. Truman for those who think Obama should comment on Nugent.

"Nobody, not even the president of the United States, can approach too close to a skunk, in skunk territory, and expect to get anything out of it except a bad smell.”

In so many words of then mayor of San Antonio, you don't get into a urinating contest with a skunk because you only end up smelling.

For some reason I looked at my original post, which said "ever" and without really reading it saw a typo where one didn't exist. Now I'll change it back. Although I may just keep changing it back and forth from ever to never just for fun.

The President would never dignify that lunatic with a response to idiocy, not a verbal response anyway. Truman is correct.

If Obama gets asked about him at a press conference, he should just laugh and say lots of republicans have anger issues.

But I'd sure like to see the same level of ZOMG from our pals in the popular media who went bugfuck crazy about Hillary Rosen's perfectly true statement about Ann(toinette) Romney.

Nugent is useful to the Repubs in that he fires up the teabagger base but one will notice that the Repubs maintain some distance from him. In case Nugent ever goes too far (where he actually commits a crime instead of just making outrageous comments), the Repubs will invoke plausible deniability .

out Nugent's support. Despise Romney pretending to be squeaky clean, he is running a secret disgustingly negative campaign that is only now turning its gaze to Obama.

The Obama campaign should review the 1948 election. I see many similarities to the upcoming election. Obama should also quote Harry as much as possible.

If Obama had a fraction of the cajones that HST had the Republicans and their media sycophants would keep their little pinheads well down in the trenches.

Clinton had the "Ragin' Cajun"--James Carville--to quickly and aggressively counter attacks. Kerry would have been president had he fought back at the swift boaters. Gore may have had the presidency stolen from him, but the election wouldn't have been close had he countered the media attacks more forcefully.

Over and over again we see that Democrats who show balls get elected; those reticent to do battle lose.

Never get into a wrestling match with a pig. You both get covered with shit, and the pig likes it.

Actually, that's quite appropriate in the Nuge's case.
