Mr. Nugent, for all the nastiness and overt threats of his recent outburst, will suffer no ill effects.
Our side will remain impotently outraged. His side will laugh at us.
Thus is the way of the world.
Were I the king, investigators would be up his ass looking for the smallest transgression and charging to the max.
Alas, I am not king.
Mr. Nugent will remain a darling of the hard right.

I took the post to be metaphorical. A jury saw it otherwise. I do not condone violence.

(7,875 posts)I actually liked Turd when I was a teenager- but even then I wasn't that much of a fan. I never bought an album of his and found more than two good songs on it. (Sadly yes- Turd does have a few dollars of my money from back in the 80s) He was banned in my house when I saw him shilling for Massey Energy at their big anti-union rally a couple of years back- He's only made it worse for himself with his chickenhawk bullshit and increasingly regular appearances on Fox "News"
Fuck nugent.

(18,633 posts)I'm absolutely confident he'll tell the agents he has no intention of shooting anyone, and that he doesn't want to encourage anyone else to do so. After that statement, he should be shown the stack of death threats received by the service just in the past year and instructed to "tell them".
Otherwise, he should face charges for inciting violence against the President Of The United States (Isn't there such a law?).
If he wants to rant against the administration and the president, that's his right. He's not allowed to lead a deadly coup by telling followers assasination is a viable option to the election process.

(3,918 posts)They say it's a waste of taxpayer money, etc., etc. I'd love to give them examples of how those who criticized Bush were treated/investigated...but I can only think of the Dixie Chicks. My memory isn't what it once was! Anyone have others I could throw in their faces?

(62,325 posts)speech. Another guy was arrested for turning his back on Bush Sr. airc.
The Right destroyed the Dixie Chicks' careers in country music and they had to have protection because of the death threats they received. Not to mention all the anti-war protesters who were arrested, some called 'terrorists'.
How many rightwing protesters have ever been arrested in this country?
