Invitees Turn Table on Romney at Tax Day Picnic
Mitt Romney spent Tax Day trying to connect with middle class taxpayers . . .
At the event, staged at a picnic table laden with lemonade pitchers, cookies and other snacks, Mr. Romney tried to pivot from the broad, business-oriented focus that dominates his economic policy to a more intimate conversation about kitchen table issues.
One voter told Mr. Romney that he was at risk of putting off blue-collar voters and conservative Democrats if his proposals seem to favor the rich.
A lot of what could potentially turn off those type of Democratic voters are the folks that are upper income that are deducting taxes paid on their second home, their vacation home, said Jason Thomas, a physicians assistant from Unity Township.
They dont want to see General Electric paying zero taxes and them being asked to take a cut in their Medicare benefits.
