Blamed for Bee Collapse, Monsanto Buys Leading Bee Research Firm

http://naturalsociety.com/monsanto-bee-collapse-buys-bee-research-firm/#ixzz1sUCsUIfh

Monsanto, the massive biotechnology company being blamed for contributing to the dwindling bee population, has bought up one of the leading bee collapse research organizations. Recently banned from Poland with one of the primary reasons being that the company’s genetically modified corn may be devastating the dying bee population, it is evident that Monsanto is under serious fire for their role in the downfall of the vital insects. It is therefore quite apparent why Monsanto bought one of the largest bee research firms on the planet.

It can be found in public company reports hosted on mainstream media that Monsanto scooped up the Beeologics firm back in September 2011. During this time the correlation between Monsanto’s GM crops and the bee decline was not explored in the mainstream, and in fact it was hardly touched upon until Polish officials addressed the serious concern amid the monumental ban. Owning a major organization that focuses heavily on the bee collapse and is recognized by the USDA for their mission statement of “restoring bee health and protecting the future of insect pollination” could be very advantageous for Monsanto.

In fact, Beelogics’ company information states that the primary goal of the firm is to study the very collapse disorder that is thought to be a result — at least in part — of Monsanto’s own creations. Their website states:
While its primary goal is to control the Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) and Israeli Acute Paralysis Virus (IAPV) infection crises, Beeologics’ mission is to become the guardian of bee health worldwide.

And this is why we need to keep money with a vested interest out of politics and research

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agent_Orange

Agent Orange is the code name for one of the herbicides and defoliants used by the U.S. military as part of its herbicidal warfare program, Operation Ranch Hand, during the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1971. It was given its name from the color of the orange-striped 55 US gallon (208 litre) barrels in which it was shipped, and was by far the most widely used of the so-called "Rainbow Herbicides". A 50:50 mixture of 2,4,5-T and 2,4-D, it was manufactured for the U.S. Department of Defense primarily by Monsanto Corporation and Dow Chemical. The 2,4,5-T used to produce Agent Orange was later discovered to be contaminated with 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzodioxin, an extremely toxic dioxin compound. Vietnam estimates 400,000 people were killed or maimed, and 500,000 children born with birth defects.

http://www.combat-monsanto.co.uk/spip.php?article228

The massive spraying of Agent Orange had long term effects, not only on the civilian population of Vietnam but also on the US soldiers who had been equally exposed to dioxin without precautions. What’s more, Monsanto had deliberately hidden from the army the fact that the military version of the weedkiller 2,4,5-T, or Agent Orange, contained a much stronger residual concentration of the dioxin TCDD than the usual agricultural version. A now-released internal document from the firm Dow Chemicals, dated 22 February 1965, discloses a secret meeting of the main suppliers of “Agent Orange”, including Monsanto, held to “discuss toxicological problems caused by the presence of certain highly toxic impurities” in the samples of 2,4,5-T supplied to the army. Dow wanted to consider an internal study showing that “rabbits exposed to dioxin developed severe liver lesions”. The question at issue for the suppliers of 2,4,5-T was to know whether they had to warn the government about the toxicity of Agent Orange. Gerson Smoger, the lawyer for many veterans of the Vietnam war, stated that “The meeting took place in the greatest secrecy […] The question was, whether they had to tell the government. As is proven by a letter of which I also have a copy, Monsanto reproached Dow for wanting to reveal the secret. And the secret was kept for at least four years, the years in which the spraying of Agent Orange reached its peak in Vietnam.

http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/Drug_War/Monsanto_DrugWar.html

The US has sprayed tons of Roundup and Roundup Ultra (produced by the St. Louis-based chemical and biotechnology giant, Monsanto) during the 24-year-long drug war in Colombia. The use of these herbicides has consistently produced health complaints from people in the Colombian countryside. Those complaints have gone largely ignored by Washington and Monsanto.

A month before Wellstone was doused, Colombian indigenous leaders visited Congress to speak out against the fumigation. "The 12 indigenous peoples have been suffering under this plague as if it were a government decree to exterminate our culture and our very survival," said Jose Francisco Tenono, the only leader who was not afraid to use his real name. "Our only sustenance - manioc, banana, palms, sugar cane and corn - have been fumigated. Our sources of water, creeks, rivers, lakes, have been poisoned, killing our fish... Today, hunger is our daily bread. In the name of the Amazonian Indigenous people I ask that the fumigations be immediately suspended."

Why did DuPont drop "through chemistry" from their old advertising slogan?
"Better Things for Better Living...Through Chemistry."
DuPont adopted it in 1935 and it was their slogan until 1982 when the "Through Chemistry" part was dropped.

The counter culture movement from the 1960s used a variant of the 1935 advertising slogan to achieve two primary purposes:
1.To create an ironic reference to recreational drug use.
(see cool old poster at link)
2.To create an ironic reference to the "chemical" word as a negative reference for big companies like Dupont.

If you start a company that researched the bee problem--you obviously care about the environment
and the bee problem. You invest your life and money into solving the problem and into making a living
this way.

So, what makes a person like that sell out?

Reminds me of when Whole Foods sold out to Monsanto. I'm guessing that people are TOLD what
they will do. The corporations have control of our government and they're destroying it and clearly
they have no regard for our health, safety or well being. If they can control entire governments, of
course they can overtake a small research firm.

It's sickening.

For many years, Whole Foods openly and aggressively opposed Monsanto's GMO crops and the
food that contained them. As part of some revolting deal--Whole Foods agreed to stop speaking
out and opposing Monsanto and GMO foods.

In exchange for buttoning their lip, Whole Foods asked that Monsanto pay organic farmers for damaged
incurred as a result of GMOs taining their crops and other damages that ensue.

Here is the link to one story. There are hundreds of stories/links on this if you Google.

I apologize for the miscommunication. I said that Whole Foods "sold out" to Monsanto, and in effect--they
surely did cave. However, Whole Foods didn't sell their company to Monsanto. They just struck a really
awful deal with the devil--probably under the weight of several Monsanto boots on someone's neck.

...they didn't sell their company to Monsanto.

Whole Foods just agreed to stop openly speaking out against Monsanto and biotech companies
that produce GMOs.

It appears that Monsanto couldn't have a stalwart and credible name like Whole Foods--opposing their
GMO poison. So, Monsanto "bought" off their silence, as they do with every company that is threat
to their poison-for-profit organization.

Whether Monsanto is purchasing the research companies that could reveal their crimes or pressuring
and threatening companies like Whole Foods--into shutting the hell up--Monsanto really knows how to
kill legitimate opposition to their evil.

These Monsanto goons must watch episodes of The Sopranos, to learn their technique.

And I used the words, "sold out"--and I still stand by them--although I regret that others thought
that Whole Foods was purchased by Monsanto. I never said that.

However, I still stand by the fact that Whole Foods sold out. However, I believe they are most likely
the victims of a psychopathic, corporate culture that tells governments, companies and people what
they can say, what they can protest and when they will be purchased and controlled--as in the case of
the bee-research company.

Organic foods in their diets. But for the average person there and those who buy food exported from China, or which there is a great deal, the scandals are horrific. From poisoned milk, plastic rice to vegetables grown with chemicals banned here to make it increase in weight, but causing serious health problems.

And when Michelle Obama dared start a White House victory garden that was organic, there were all kinds of attacks on her from the chemical industry. Claims were made that encouraging people to eat organic produce would cause both starvation and obesity, and that an army of food nazis would be sent to force feed people into eating what they said. It was taken up by conservative pundits nationwide. The Obamas refused to answer the charges and are having food out of the garden served with meals at the White House.

It's up to consumers to seek out new ways of eating to get away from this trap. In China I'm sure most people have access to land to grow food or farmer's markets, much as many Americans do.

Urban people here and there may or may have access to gardening space or farmer's markets. It's reduced to going to grocers with options. Still, income level is the divide everywhere. I think people forget that at times.

Thu Apr 19, 2012, 10:06 AM
Apr 2012
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neonicotinoid

Neonicotinoids are a class of neuro-active insecticides chemically related to nicotine. The development of this class of insecticides began with work in the 1980s by Shell and the 1990s by Bayer.[1] The neonicotinoids were developed in large part because they show reduced toxicity compared to previously used organophosphate and carbamate insecticides. Most neonicotinoids show much lower toxicity in mammals than insects, but some breakdown products are toxic.[2] Neonicotinoids are the first new class of insecticides introduced in the last 50 years, and the neonicotinoid imidacloprid is currently the most widely used insecticide in the world.[3] Recently, the use of some members of this class has been restricted in some countries due to evidence of a connection to honey-bee colony collapse disorder.[4][5]

These have been banned in France and other countries in Europe. AFAIK, Monsanto does not manufacture neonicotinoids.

11. Why would Beelogic sell out to evil Monsanto???
Thu Apr 19, 2012, 10:30 AM
Apr 2012

I'm wondering why a company, that is devoted to researching (and possibly solving) the bee problem,
would sell out to the very company that is most likely causing the problem?

The person who started this company, obviously was interested in getting to the bottom of this. They
obviously care about the environment and about the bees--and they understand the gravity of the
situation.

Why sell out to evil Monsanto?

Was it pure greed or does Monsanto operate like the Sopranos? Did they come in and say, "You will
sell to us, or else."?

Reminds me of when Whole Foods caved to Monsanto. I bet they play third-rate thug games--threatening
people and their families.

Monsanto is revolting. Watch now. The MSM will be all abuzz (no pun intended) about how the bee
problem is due to weather or the price of tea in China. We won't hear anything about the source of
the information or that Monsanto OWNS the company that arrived at these conclusions--but the meme
will be spread and Monsanto's crimes will be covered.

REPULSIVE.

Monsanto has used lawsuits or threats of lawsuits for 20 years to force unlabeled genetically engineered foods on the public, and to intimidate farmers into buying their genetically engineered seeds and hormones.

When Vermont became the first state in the nation in 1994 to require mandatory labels on milk and dairy products derived from cows injected with the controversial genetically engineered Bovine Growth Hormone, Monsanto's minions sued in Federal Court and won on a judge's decision that dairy corporations have the first amendment "right" to remain silent on whether or not they are injecting their cows with rBGH - even though rBGH has been linked to severe health damage in cows and increased cancer risk for humans, and is banned in much of the industrialized world, including Europe and Canada.
