so the right wing hates Mitt, and?

The point is not any enthusiasm gap. We know full well the GOP will vote in lockstep and goosestep, especially down in Dixie, which wants the Black man out. The danger is that Mitt does not have to do anything, the superpacs can gladly post "Vote for Mitt, we can hang the damn Mormon before we inaugurate him" and sadly, that would be defended Free speech. We are not fighting the GOP, we are fighting the world's one percent, and that includes China.

1. It's true that republicans vote as a birthright

While democrats outnumber republicans by a wide margin, the former tend to find every excuse not to make it to the polls. Republicans are told at a young age by their conservative fathers that it doesn't matter if the dog catcher is the only thing on the ballot, they have to get out and vote for the republican dog catcher so liberals don't destroy the country they love.

In the South it may be different this year. Southerners are always puzzled how democrats sneak into office there. They often accuse dems of voting fraud because they can't find anyone who voted for them. All their friends declare that them and their wives voted "right" while the wife's gaze wanders to the ceiling.

Recent polls show Romney in serious disfavor with women voters nationwide, but the overall numbers show about even with Obama. My theory is that men answer the phone poll and say "You bet me and my wife are both voting republican", as his wife quietly nods her head with a wry smile. Such is life in a male dominant conservative household, and it may be the key for an Obama win in November.

It's true I learned most of this by watching Boomhauser on "King Of The Hill", and you can call me naive if you want, but I still believe in the power of private voting booths and the sanity of juries.

I am not as worried about what people actually vote, but what the billions can appear to make true. Perception has become reality, though frankly, the fact that such a line is common shows how uncivilized we have become.

I did the majority wanted to go home and wanted to convict within 5 minutes because the defendant was black. Luckily I forced them to discuss and was able to hang the jury with the help of 4 others and the guy walked, so justice was served. It was a minor weed possession case.
Juries are far from sane.

Perhaps "sanity" wasn't the right term, but I have confidence that juries find correctly in a very high percentages of cases when they are presented with the facts.

If there's a problem with the judicial system, it's in overzealous prosecutors who conspire to hide evidence from jurists. That's why we have the appeals process.

I don't know why people find it so hard to avoid jury duty if they don't want to be there. Everyone I know who has served took it very seriously and was proud to do it. There's no shortage of people who are willing to adjudicate a peer, and no reason to force anyone. I don't see DU drafting members into jury service.

Personally, I was asked to serve on a jury one time in 40 years and dismissed before the court date..

News to me. The fact of the matter is that China is no threat to us militarily, and economically they are soon going to see their own economic bubble bursting, which sadly will probably take the rest of us with them into the toilet.

We should be concerned about the Chinese 1% (and the British 1%, the Mexican 1%, etc. in addition to the American 1%) but we don't need to fight China, Britain, Mexico, etc.
