Huge Pot Auction in Washington Tomorrow

Cannabis farmers have gone from watching the federal government auction off their seized property to doing some auctioning of their own.

The Oregonian reports this week on Randy Williams, owner of Fireweed Farm in Prosser, WA., who is set to auction Saturday hundreds of pounds of licit Blue Dream, Blueberry Purple Kush and One-Armed Bandit to qualified processors and wholesalers.

November marks the close of harvest season for Washington’s first legal outdoor crop in modern history. Fireweed Farms has about a ton of product to bring to market in lots ranging from five to 100 pounds. Williams received $1,500 per pound earlier this year.

Washington legalized over-21 commercial cultivation and sales of cannabis in 2012, though it remains federally illegal. A handful of stores are open in the state.

about 1/3 the price of the same product sold on the east coast

If they don't end prohibition soon, the Legal states will start attracting the talented people

I find this highly interesting - looks like the way the tobacco industry in the South used to be before the advent of contract growing.

Surreal to say the least.

Street prices are already way down, bought a 1/4 of Wille Nelson this morning for $50. Supposedly bred for him (?) the man himself bought the whole lot after one try, the story goes.

Look at how symmetrical those leaves are. Absolutely stunning!

Growing outdoors is ultimately the best, especially for environmental reasons.

Sativas generally grow tall and skinny, indicas are bushier.

Recent events would be a lot more exciting to me than they are.

I support total legalization, but not for any personal interest - it's just that Prohibition is insane.

Personally, marijuana makes me feel awful. At best I'm distracted and uncomfortable; at worst it's like magnifying time so much so that a minute lasts an hour and the slightest imperfections in my autonomic rhythms feel like a heart-attack.
