Former Surgeon General: Alzheimer's is greater public health crisis than Ebola

David Satcher, who served as Bill Clinton's surgeon general, is up with an oped trying to calm the GOP's ebola fearmongering.

"While Ebola is a potential disaster in the United States we must address decisively, Alzheimer’s disease is already today a deadly disaster for millions of American families that we have largely ignored. It is a threat to both public health and to our economy. That is what should frighten people."

Ebola is anyone's game. No question ebola needs to be addressed (and good luck finding money for that research), but this isn't the message that will quell the pseudo-panic. This won't get the traction he is hoping for.
