Darren Wilson Grand Jury Decision: 5 Possible Outcomes

1. The Grand Jury Could Choose To Bring Charges Against Wilson

If the jury decides there is probable cause to believe that a crime was committed, Wilson’s case will go to trial.

2. The Grand Jury Could Choose Not To Bring Charges Against Wilson

The jury could decide there is not enough proof that Wilson may have committed a crime.

3. The State Attorney General Could Choose To Prosecute Wilson

Should the grand jury not bring charges against Wilson, the state attorney general could choose to prosecute Wilson

4. The U.S. Justice Department Could Bring Charges Against Wilson

Federal investigators have conducted their own probe into Brown’s death. However, they would have to provide evidence that Wilson meets the high legal standard for a successful civil rights prosecution

5. Brown’s Family Could File A Civil Suit Against Wilson

Even if Wilson is acquitted on all indictments, Brown’s parents could sue the officer for wrongful death in civil court.

Whatever the outcome, they are taking a long time waiting on giving the decision. I believe they know the decision and just waiting for the right moment. Wednesday night before Thanksgiving when most are traveling and not paying attention. Sorta sarcastic but not by much.

Not sarcastic at all. I wonder which one of them has a book deal in the works?

announce it.
If they have control over that, I am not sure if that day would be good. Too many people are already paying attention, it is not going to go unnoticed like a Friday night news dump.

There will be a LOT of people at the airport and a lot of people out shopping. That would not be a real good time to have most of the cops in the area working on patrolling (or as they see it controlling) protesters.

It is very cold here now, but that can change by next week here around St. Louis lol.

I am still sending positive vibes for an indictment.

This is very interesting, and like in the "may you live in interesting times" way!

The prosecutor dumped all the investigative material on the grand jury. If he wanted a trial he would have selectively chosen those facts that proved probable cause and presented them only. He has no obligation to give all the facts just the ones he thinks provide probable cause for an arrest and then at trial everything gets presented or at least given to the defense.

Fergusen, St. Louis County and possibly the whole state police look very corrupt in this situation. Tone deaf and arrogant. Heavy on the arrogance.

Is when he's cleaning out the blood and vomit of the next person he brutalizes from his own Ferguson squad car.

I always thought the purpose of a grand jury was to prevent arbitrary prosecutions?

My understanding is that the purpose of a grand jury is to decide whether there is probable cause to prosecute someone for a felony crime.

I've served on one - and I'm pretty sure that's what the prosecutor told us. This is NY state in the late 1990's - but I don't think it has changed much since then. You operate in secrecy - and on the one I was on - it was the Prosecutors show.
