Ideally speaking, the bond between parents and their children is one of love and respect. Thus, the older, wiser and more powerful part of the family, protects and provides for the younger, less educated and more vulnerable side of the family.

A friend of mine born and living in Europe, saw the movie SICKO, about the American for-profit, denial of care, rob peter to pay paul health care system. Most Americans haven't known there was anything better, as we've kept in the dark and fed bullshit all our lives.,

She emailed me right after she saw it, horrified. She had no idea that Americans were dealing with medical bankruptcy, people being thrown out in the street, dying of conditions that she never worried about because her country's system is nationalized. We talked a few days about it, what I knew, what I'd seen and experienced.

She concluded: 'The American government must HATE the American people.'

We've had Democrats being accused by the right of being paternalistic and treating the American people like children, when they should let them have their independence from government. That a free man, does not need any protection, but can fight his way through the world without any help. The bootstraps idea.

But not all the kids in a family are equally endowed with intelligence, strength or other qualities that would allow them to compete in the marketplace. Not all family members go through life without any problems or live in societies that allow them to reach their full potential and achieve a level of total liberty.

Democrats, progressives, liberals, what have you, have attempted to show impartiality to all, and I think that there is a level of love involved in that, and knowing that everyone is different and should not be punished for being different, nor denied a chance.

We have students being told by the GOP that they are losers for attempting to get ahead under a rigged loan system and asking for grants. In the past, students were given assistance by grants to help them achieve adult status. Able to well support themselves and have families of their own and support then and others. So the chain of protection and love continues.

The GOP wants that to stop, wants to orphan all these people, get them down to the level of children living in the streets like something out of a Dickens novel.

Perhaps we can come to an agreement in this country to look at each other as kindred and that our success as a nation will be judged by that bond.

Cut in food aid approved by House.

Talk about hating Americans and laughing about it...

Thanks to the GOP. And then the Bush tax cuts kicked in.

*Yeah, I run my family like that*

I have never thought of the "Devil" as much as now with these Republican scorched earth tactics. It's as if they are all taking direct orders from the Devil himself. Give away huge sums of money; but take away peoples food? When is enough, enough? True believers need to rally. There is a big picture here and I pray wise men see through it!

Not much imagination, really (other than imagining meanings in the cartoon that weren't based on anything actually in the OP).
