He has a face that only a mother could love.
But sadly for poor Nelson, his didn't.
The parrot chick, who must surely be a contender for the ugliest bird in the world, was rejected by his parents after he hatched.

(12,882 posts)One of which we raised from the day he hatched. That was because his parents weren't feeding him or his two siblings. But he just celebrated his 21st birthday last month and he's one hell of an important family member here. He slept in bed with us his first five years, but once he matured, he wanted to play at night - and so we had to let him stay in another room so we could sleep
But he and his siblings were ALL homely and helpless until they started to sprout their adult feathers. His real beauty is in his mutual affection for the wife and I.
