One of my best friends in the Political World passed on early today....

I posted this earlier in the Ohio Forum but I wanted to share some things about a man I respected. When I came down with my severe pulmonary problems in 2000, he offered me a chance to stay involved with Cuyahog County democratic politics.

He needed a treasurer and so he asked me to serve on his team. He kidded that a judge in a wheel chair and a treasurer dragging around an oxygen tank made a good team.

Well he is gone. He was confined in his chair, 60% paralyzed since he was 17, and now he is free.

He struggled in the end but still ran for a seat on the Court of Appeals.

He had been in the hospital since late september and I think he wanted to last as long as he could so that Kasich wouldn't get to appoint one of his cronies to the bench.

Here is the Plain Dealer accounting.

He was over our house a few times, way back when. He ate like a starving man, he was rail thin when he was in high school.

Pete was a senior at St. Ignatius when I was a sophomore.

One of the best juvenile court justices Cuyahoge County and the State of Ohio has ever seen.
