Something new from Breivik: "Women couldn't do what I did. You must be born without a backbone."

Bristling under the prosecutor’s questions, Mr. Breivik conceded that his actions on July 22 did not require any special ability. “A lot of people would be capable,” he admitted. “Maybe women wouldn’t be capable. You must be born with a backbone. You can develop one.”

After re-entering the courtroom on Wednesday with the same clenched-fist salute, right arm outstretched, that he used on the first two days of his trial, Mr. Breivik squirmed and flared his nostrils as Ms. Engh read out a section from his 1,500-page manifesto, in which he claimed to have been sought out by the militant group because of his particular gifts.

“If I may ask, what is the purpose of this?” he said of the prosecutor’s approach. “What are you doing now? What do you want to arrive at? What is the purpose? Your intention is to try to sow doubt into whether this network exists. That is your purpose.”

Returning from an early recess, Mr. Breivik became sulky when asked again to explain what happened in Liberia. “You have chosen a delegitimization strategy in order to detract credibility from me,” he said. “I don’t want to make your delegitimization strategy any simpler.”

The trial is expected to last up to 10 weeks.

Everyone know that this guy is a right-wing wacko who is anti-immigrant and anti-multiculturalism, but I didn't know he was anti-feminist as well. Of course, since he is a right winger that should not be a surprise.

Whether or not it makes any sense, the NY Times was quoting him. Why turn it around?

Echoing the poster above me. The defendant was saying that what he did took courage. Reply #1 to your post wasn't correcting you, it was correcting him.

Without an arsenal of weapons, he seems more like a particularly petulant four-year-old. I'm waiting for the trial report where he stamps his little feet and threatens to hold his breath until he turns blue if the prosecuting attorney doesn't stop being such a poopy-head.

I wish Mr. Breivik and very long life, to be spent in the custody of the state he hates so much.

One of the basic themes in his rants is that feminism is causing white women to not have enough white babies, which is in return causing Europe to be islamized sinced the Muslims are outbreeding the whites.

He explained that he felt at least partly responsible because he felt it was somehow the result of the estrangement between him and the mother. The one thing he did express was that he believed Breivik was "teched" and was so sorry. I was truly heartwrenching to watch him on the interviews and read his words.

he's a fascist, at best, a misanthrope at worst. Hate and fear form the basis for his taking up space and breathing each and everyday.

You're right. Given his other hatreds, his disrespecting women should not be a shock.

I find his arrogance breathtaking. Ah well - enjoy all those years in prison pig.
