I returned his email asking if he still had any champagne left over from his 2012 Romney victory party to celebrate with.

(6,440 posts)Purely on the grounds that a pessimist is never disappointed. Of course, I'll be delighted to be proved wrong.

(12,875 posts)And if, due to disenfranchisement and other forms of cheating, Rethugs retake the Senate, your favorite wingnut and everyone else in this country who is not among the 1% will EAT the dead carcass of the late great United States.

(18,219 posts)I only have half an ear to what he is saying, and all of a sudden I heard him say something about the Democratic Underground. I thought that I was the only one who would sometimes listen to him in a "know your enemy" sort of way. I want to know the current blather so I recognize it when a parrot who can't think repeats it to me in arguments.
I hope that his landslide win crashes and burns.....in fact, I will probably be physically ill if they take it all.

(45,274 posts)Unless you're telepathic (or, more likely, clairvoyant as regards the contents of septic systems), you're unlikely to have heard him. He emails me stuff about climate change denial & the like & I amuse myself by makeing snarky responses to them.

(18,219 posts)As to mental health, though, I find that most of the time, I just chuckle at the ridiculous statements that he makes. And laughter is the best medicine. Most days, I can't get through 15 minutes, but today I am too lazy to get up an turn it off. But that is his topic as well, and it is all he has been going on about today.

(2,969 posts)It's best to deal with them phenomenologically - i.e., only respond to their actions, not their words. They don't really speak English, but rather a kind of Newspeak dialect with English vocabulary.

(11,175 posts)It's a near-certainty that the Democrats will score a net gain in Senate seats in 2016, regardless of how popular Obama is then or anything else, just because of the same factor at work this year -- namely, which seats happen to be up.
