And is being kept in a tent on the "hospital first floor". So...who is emptying the portapotty if they are labeling her ill when she is not...body fluids and all. And no running water for a shower..yeah that will do wonders for keeping a clean, hygienic area...NOT!
Is she a NY resident? Just wondering because if she is, can NY order NJ to hand her over?
And if she is handed over, maybe now that NY gov has come to his senses (threat of lawsuit most likely helped!) this woman can go back to her home for the rest of her quarantine.
And going by the health information that Christie released, she needs to sue his ass for HIPAA violation..especially since he said that she was "obviously ill" when she is NOT!

(115,679 posts)Kaci Hickox, a nurse under mandatory quarantine for Ebola monitoring in New Jersey, sent CNN this image of the tent where she is being isolated in a New Jersey Hospital on Sunday, October 26. Hospital officials told CNN the indoor tent is in a climate-controlled extended-care facility adjacent to the hospital. Hickox has twice tested negative for Ebola, including a test at the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta.
Hickox also sent this image of the toilet facilities in the tent. She has no shower, no flushable toilet and the hospital gave her no television or any reading material.

(9,974 posts)Apparently they finally gave her a computer with wi fi access today ((Sunday). But I imagine that the lawyers who got to visit her had plenty of time to take pics, also.
You know Christie is probably throwing a fit. He wants all (mis)information to come from him, no doubt.

(10,918 posts)I wonder if the hospital admin is all that completely screwed up, or is Christie behind that too?
Either way, that was a dumb mistake. TV and reading material would have kept her occupied to some extent. Without those distractions, she naturally is that much more pissed; and has nothing else to do than to take pictures and tell the world about it.
Is Amnesty International involved with this yet? It certainly seems like a perfect fit.

(44,577 posts)why was she allowed to enter the country in the first place -- and on a commercial flight, no less? I'm not against healthcare personnel being quarantined, but if they're that worried about them being contagious, they should be quarantined BEFORE entering the country!

(6,719 posts)If she wanted to go camping, OK. But she wants to go home -- Maine I think.
People are going to avoid NY and NJ. Fly into Texas!
This is just disgusting. Christie will probably say he did not know!!!!! About the conditions, I mean.

The optics are terrible.

(11,065 posts)full of medical equipment. That tent wouldn't have been set up and her put in it without the hospital having every reason to believe that she is likely infected and about to be starting the ugly symptoms. An airport temperature reading didn't get her in there. A lot of work went into setting it up in the hospital, and it wouldn't have been done without her being examined and having every reason to believe she's likely infected. Not to mention the expense of it all.
Her negative Ebola test doesn't mean anything because it takes several days of increasing symptoms for one to have enough virus in the blood to register a positive. And she would know this.
Dr. Spencer also didn't believe his early symptoms were Ebola either until he woke on Thursday with a 103 temperature. I can see that she also wouldn't believe she had Ebola in the early symptoms either. She's also a nurse and should know that flushing because of stress doesn't increase the core body temperature, and that these temperature guns would be useless if they calculated fevers in anyone with a stress flush, hot flash, embarrassment blush, etc. They are accurate within about 2/10th of a degree in calculating core body temperature.
As much as Christie is a creeping crud I absolutely don't believe that he would publicly say she was "obviously ill" without every reason to believe it.
That set up is NOT a quarantine tent in a hospital for someone that's not symptomatic. It's an isolation tent full of medical equipment that should tell anyone that there is every reason to believe that it is reasonably believed by the hospital that she likely has the early stages of Ebola and is going to be getting worse.
Btw, when was the last time she spoke publicly?

(115,679 posts)You are way behind in several of your points. Please catch up as it'll save you a lot of stress.
There was a "transcription error" with Dr Spencer. His temp was 103, not 100.3. That is below what CDC says is reportable, yet he called the authorities anyway.
"She's also a nurse and should know that flushing because of stress doesn't increase the core body temperature". That is exactly why she asked for her core temperature to be taken, which was BELOW normal. Her skin temp on her flushed forehead was above normal.
Christie didn't see her, and seems to have been relying on the early report of her forehead temp, not her core temp, being above normal. She was examined directly by doctors who said she was asymptomatic, afebrile (no raised temp) and had no signs or symptoms of being ill in any way.
Indeed, that quaratine tent is not typically set up for someone who doesn't need it and since she has no raised temp, no signs or symptoms according to doctors who examined her, wtf is she doing there beyond politics?
They are going to release her after being symptom free the last 24 hours.

(30,676 posts)all body fluids will be collected for correct disposal instead of disbursed into the sewers. No need to disinfect dozens of furniture items etc, if there aren't any. Same with shower, they can collect and dispose of sponge bath materials--
true isolation is not fun, nor should it be.
That being said, i would sue as well. HIPAA violations have been EVERYWHERE in the ebola story, and should be addressed.
