Buffet Bill my Ass

Listening to MSNBC about how dems are getting ready for a vote on the Buffet bill that they already know repubs will block. Where was this bill when we had the house and senate? Other meaningful legislation that was introduced back then was shot down because the rethugs could always count on enough DINOs to block truly progressive legislation I guess we never had a REAL majority. Just what the hell do real democrats - I.e. progressives - have to do to be represented?

The 60% rule caused most of the problem with getting democratic legislation between 2009-2011 they did not have simple majority rules.

2. Not everything could be done in the COUPLE OF MONTHS that we had a filibuster-proof Senate in 2009

Franken wasn't sworn in until July 2009, and Kennedy died August 25, 2009

Paul Kirk (D-MA) was appointed to fill the vacancy, he served from September 24, 2009 to February 4, 2010

Scott Brown (R-MA) took over Kennedy's seat February 4, 2010

Now, add up the time after Franken was sworn in and DEDUCT the one month that Kennedy's seat was vacant AND all of Congress recesses including Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, etc
and you'll find that there was a VERY SHORT period of time where the Dems had a 60 member filibuster-proof majority.

Also Kennedy was not able to be present at Congress the last couple of months of his life.

that's just thrown out to entice the base but they're perfectly happy with the way things are. Anymore I'm more believing the latter.

My party is sponsoring a "symbolic" bill that will have absolutely no effect on economic disparity and will not anger the corporate masters and requires absolutely no guts to vote for! YEE-FUCKIN'-HAW!

I've been waiting for this for years! Forgive me, I'm just sooo excited to see my elected representatives taking bold, decisive action for the 99%!
