Well, I am officially a New Hampshire voter.

On my 18th birthday, I registered to vote in Massachusetts and never missed an election. Last year, I moved my family to New Hampshire, and today, went down to town hall and registered to vote.

Not long after I moved to New Hampshire, friggin' Scott Brown followed me here so he could run for Senate against Jeanne Shaheen. I had the privilege of voting against Brown in 2010 and 2012. A week from Tuesday, I get to do it again after enduring my third Scott Brown campaign in four years, which is basically a hate crime, because God obviously hates me, because I have been afflicted with this chuckleass on a permanent basis for four straight years. I even fled the state and couldn't escape.

Well, Scotty, your ass is mine in ten days. I devoutly hope with every fiber of my being that I will never, ever hear from you again.

I remember moving to Minnesota in 2004 from California where I had lived at the same address for 30 years. The day after we closed on our house, my wife and registered to vote at at our new address. That was in July. I did that so I'd be a registered voter and could vote in the August primary. I just couldn't imagine not being a registered voter as soon as that was possible.

It looks like you may have missed the primary elections in your new state of New Hampshire by waiting to register. That's too bad, because voting in primaries gives you a voice in who will be the candidates for the offices on your ballot in November. Every election matters, even the primaries, or maybe especially the primaries.

Still, it's good that you finally registered to vote where you live. Yes, good. Voting is good.

I thought I was doing well because, when I moved, I registered to vote before I had even put up any curtains. (My girlfriend, who had given me new curtains as a housewarming gift, was miffed.) You were even quicker off the mark, though. Well done!

though the governor back then was a horrific right winger named Meldrim Thompson (bleech). And it was during my years living there that things started swinging rightward, with Reagan's presidential victory (during which we drank very heavily).

We have half a hankering to head back north (NH, VT, etc) - but after 22 years in NC, don't know if we would do well with the winters any more!

In fact, I'd guess they're getting more like NC winters. I live in southern NH a few miles from VT and we haven't even had a frost yet. I'm still picking stuff out of the garden and it's nearly November! I've got beautiful marigolds and zinnias in full bloom and I noticed the other day the garlic chives that usually come up in the spring are making a fall comeback. It's very weird.

NRaleighLiberal. NC needs people like you. I live in Durham, and sure hope we get to meet one day. By the way, if you haven't read any of Mr. Pitt's books, I highly recommend them, especially his first. I heard him talk at UNC waaayyyy back when W was first elected. And everything he said about W and the right wing was absolutely proven true. I remember being concerned that he seemed to be alone, and I thought he needed bodyguards! He said to me "There's safety in numbers". He's right, again. Stay, please.

Closer to family, beautiful area, great for my daughter, and far less expensive. It costs $50 just to walk out the damn door in Boston. We could have stayed, but we'd have had much less space for the kid. Plus, the politics up here are great fun.
