I am not sure how to react. . .but some little part of me almost wants to laugh.
After they heard gunfire outside their meeting room door Wednesday, members of Parliament snapped close to 15 flagpoles to make weapons.
Some positioned themselves on risers that flanked doors, ready to attack an assailant.
Mr. Harper, meanwhile, had been whisked into a closet in the Centre Block room shortly after the gunfights outside began.

America is a diseased nation and it seeps into Canada.

(16,201 posts)Canada is quite capable of having these incidents on it's own. As have many other Western countries.
As for Canada, it had a particularly horrible shooting in 1989 known as the École Polytechnique massacre, where the male gunman went after women "because they were feminists."

(16,201 posts)A.L.I.C.E. training and run-hide-fight programs teach to get away if you can, hide in good cover if you can't, and if left with no options (gunman entering your hiding place), improvise weapons and attack the gunman.
