I live in what I'm told is the "reddest" city in Arizona. I've noticed an interesting trend here in bumper stickers.
1. No Romney stickers. Not one.
2. Quite a few Ron Paul stickers.
3. More Obama stickers than anything.
4. Way fewer teaper stickers than last year.
Add to that the hilarity of the teaper rally that drew a gigantic crowd of about 18 people along with the disgust that is shown in our local paper over the corruption and insanity in our local government, I think the GOP may be in trouble here.
Any other red staters seeing a trend?
Edit to fix: "local" government. We've got some funny shit goin' on both city and state. "Funny" as in, you get what you ask for...idiots.

There are enough Obama '12 stickers up here that I'm almost brave enough to put one on my car. I just can't afford to replace a window.

(11,101 posts)But without a contested primary I doubt the party is spending a lot of dough passing them out. Plenty of anti-Obama crap and "don't tread on me" stickers and multiple variations of "I pay too much in taxes" stickers, which are invariably on old beater trucks that look to be worth about $200 (the car of choice among the overtaxed crowd).

(24,461 posts)Believe it or not, I've actually seen three instances of Santorum signs. How foooookin sad is that?
Like a freeper thread participant once said about (R)Money: "He has the stink of 'loser' all over him".

Oh, and I saw a Newt Gingrich sticker last week, too! That one was on a "nicer" car. Hopefully, they'll send him some cash.

(24,461 posts)Not that it matters, since Paul has about as much chance as being the GOP nominee as I do of being Pope, but it's still amusing nonetheless.
I often wonder how a conversation with a Paulite would go if you were to bring up the fact that he wants to destroy the social safety net as we know it.
"Thet don't matter t'me. I won't need thet shit."
"Uh, but what if you DO?"
"AH WON'T!"
"You'll never need Social Security, Medicare, Unemployment Assistance . . . you'll always have a job and your health, guaranteed? Really??"
"Damn right, Commie!"
Ugh.

(6,785 posts)The cars with Ron Paul stickers tend to look the same:The only part of their cars not covered in stickers are the tires, windshield, front side windows, and the back glass. I'm sure they think view obstruction laws and tires that won't hold stickers are a communist plot.
I've seen a lot more bumper stickers supporting equal rights than I ever expected to see.
Yeah, your trend sounds about right, at least in this part of Alabama.

It goes both ways when we had a DU sticker on our car, my Son was harassed by some 6 mile per gallon patriot in a pick-up.

(1,328 posts)up here, did see one on a broken down, rusty car with Walker for President in the clinic's parking lot. We parked in front of him so he could see out Obama/Biden and 99% sticker on the back of ours.

(82,849 posts)For travelers on Interstate 5 through Washington, you're no doubt familiar with the nitwit private billboard featuring the bad Uncle Sam. Over the years, the message has bounced from A to A on the political scale, and back again, giving voice to nitwit conservative and poorly informed libertarian alike. This last weekend, it had some incomprehensible criticism of Sen. Cantwell one side, and standard overheated endorsement of Ron Paul on the other. Even the most ardent fascists seem to be marshalling their dry powder for 2016.

(5,029 posts)Quite a few Obama stickers, and tons of Ron Paul signs along the roads, even the country roads in VA.
They just won't give up until they have their own country and crown Paul "king 'o de world".

(4,569 posts)There are a lot of Obama stickers because he's already the Democratic Party Candidate by default.
Ron Paul is a nutcase and most of his stickers are carryovers from his other runnings
The Rmoney campaign has been more subtle......Do you notice all those "I'm A Mormon" billboards and commercials. It's no accident they have been running since Rmoney has been the frontrunner of the republican party.

Did point and laugh however.

(54,256 posts)I do see an occasional faded McCain-Palin sticker.
One has to wonder.
When I see one I automatically think "Dumbshit".
Another thing I don't see any more are the square white on black "W" stickers.
I guess they've all been scraped off.
Miz t. reports seeing an "Obama - 2012" sticker.
That's pretty close to asking for trouble down here.

(3,744 posts)I've seen Ron Paul stickers and yard signs. I've seen lots more Obama stickers. Maybe one or two teaper stickers. An idiotic neighbor has a Ron Paul sign in her yard but I ignore it.....though I've thought about....never mind.

(6,336 posts)I see Ron Paul stickers from time to time, but they're not on cars and instead defacing public property (I find it very ironic when they're on stop signs) such as road signs (I have never seen any other politician's stickers on public signs).
I see a few anti Obama ones but not too many. I'm seeing a lot of new Obama ones pop up around here and given how red my county has turned since the fat man got elected in 2009, it gives me hope.
McCain only won the county by 3 points. The following year (and since) it's been almost 2-1 GOP every year.

(27,787 posts)I get the sense that I won't see any Romney yard signs.

(39,961 posts)And honestly? I really don't expect to see many at all.
Republicans are almost ashamed of him being their candidate. It's a riot. If they say something about Obama or Democrats the quickest way to shut them up is to say "Oh, but your candidate is Romney" and proceed to laugh at the looks on their faces.

(11,470 posts)last three elections Bush or McCain signs, have not seen one Romney sign yet
saw one Ron Paul it was a small one. No Obama either but that is no surprise.
I am seeing signs for local races of republicans only.
I don't think christian right want a sign of a mormon on their land.

(4 posts)No Romney stickers see here either. I live in a northern suburb of Houston, all republicans around here.
I remember this time in 2000 and 2004, and for years afterward see a nauseating amount of BUSH stickers on cars all over the country not just in TX. Thank god those are all gone. Then a fair amount of McCain/Palin stickers in 08.
I thought about this yesterday when driving around town, then searched for this thread. Interesting how Repubs normally want to display their lockstep support for their team, but not this time.
It's like being an anthropologist observing the behavior of a primitive tribe. They have a tribal group-think going on with them - they either all display support via bumper sticker - or they all don't.
