London, England The elusive graffiti artist, political activist, film director, painter and long time fugitive that for years has gone by the pseudonymous name of Banksy, was arrested early this morning by Londons Metropolitan Police. After hours of questioning and a raid of his London art studio, his true name and identity have finally been revealed.
The City of London Police say Banksys real name is Paul Horner, a 35-year old male born in Liverpool, England. The BBC has confirmed this information with Bankys PR agent Jo Brooks along with Pest Control, a website that acts as a handling service on behalf of the artist.
London Police Chief Lyndon Edwards held a press conference to answer questions about Banksy and how Horner was finally apprehended after all these years on the run.
We had a 24-hour Anti-Graffiti Task Force monitoring different groups where Banksy was known to frequent. We received word that around 2am a group of individuals left a flat speculated to be one of Bankys art studios. This group was followed by agents and once vandalism had occurred, we then arrested the group, 5 men total. These individuals all had ID on them except for one, and that is the one we believed to be Banksy, Edwards said. We then raided the studio where this group was last seen leaving from. Inside we found thousands of dollars of counterfeit money along with future projects of vandalism. We also found a passport and ID of a Paul Horner who matched the description of the man that we are currently holding. Edwards continued, Horner is currently being held without bail on charges of vandalism, conspiracy, racketeering and counterfeiting. We are also holding the other four individuals whose names we are not releasing at this time.

Very poor satire. To me satire is supposed to be at least somewhat funny.

(38,019 posts)The alleged arrest has not, as the story claims, been confirmed by the BBC. London Police Chief Lyndon Edwards doesn't actually exist. And Banksy's supposed real name, "Paul Horner," is very common in fabricated news stories.
Not only was "Horner" mentioned in previous Banksy hoaxes, but the International Business Times points out he was also cited as a Facebook executive in the famous story about Facebook introducing a fee to use the site, and named as the kid sentenced to 25 years for calling in a SWAT team on his video game opponent. Neither of those stories turned out to be true...

Yes, its true. You dont know how much of a relief this is to finally get this off my back. Ive been keeping this a secret for two long months now, I was ready to explode, Horner said. Heres a little spoiler for all you fans out there so stop reading right now if you dont want any information, otherwise, lets go. Season six begins with Walt waking up in the hospital, handcuffed to his bed.

She apologized on Twitter the following day, after many other sources spotted the mistake and comedians made fun of Fox.

I know this is a satire site. It didn't connect. Mostly because there was nothing in the article that was funny or over the top. Like one of their front page headlines...Charlie Sheen blood contains Ebola antivirus cure.
Sorry folks.

(1,375 posts)Like you said, this story failed at being entertaining and if you never heard of the site before or don't go to any other page you can't tell. I just think that there are too many people trying to do "teh funny" do we need over a dozen (probably a really low guess) different sites like this?

(14,547 posts)It didn't register. Between not being a bit funny or an over the top something in it, it read like an actual article. No spoofing. Hell even when Palin says something outlandish, I check who is reporting it. With people like her you can't tell if the quote is made up or real.

(14,177 posts)That seems like a fantasy a conservative would have. That a graffiti artist is also mixed up in other crimes and is working with others to commit mayhem and mischief.
