No, I voted against Mitt Romney. I voted against taking away insurance from hundreds of thousands of Kentucky citizens like Mitt favored and my opponent would do. I voted against changing Medicare into a voucher program like Mitt favored and my opponent would do. I voted against refusing to raise the minimum wage which Mitt favored and my opponent would do. I voted against keeping troops in Iraq forever which Mitt favored and my opponent would do. So yes I checked Obama's name on my ballot because Mitt and my opponents policies had to be stopped no matter the cost.

(45,251 posts)She does not have to play his game.
No one has any business asking anyone else how they voted anyway. In a more polite way, I tell that to people who call me with "Can so and so count on your vote?"
Our sucky media made it as though she answered incorrectly. I am not buying into that and neither should she.

(52,166 posts)It is absurd to claim that people have no right to know if and how their public officials voted in races for the people with whom they are going to work every day. In addition, no one in KY thinks she didn't vote for Obama.

(63,912 posts)But I have to agree with you that it's rude to ask someone who they voted for, unless you know them and are not trying to entrap them. Even then, of course, it is dicey...they might get really mad.
However, we are in a pretty sad place when Dem candidates have to run away from Obama. I'm glad I live in such a blue state.

While I totally understand why red-state Democrats may feel that they can't sing President Obama's praises from on high if they want to be elected/re-elected, her response to the question really came off badly. You could almost see her thinking "How can I say yes without giving the Republicans a sound bite for campaign ads?"

(14,449 posts)A shame she can't have a redo. But all of us have had that moment when later on you think, "oh I wish I had said that." That is life. I can't imagine this is the disaster it is being made off. I read some other newspaper websites and it is not even mentioned.

(1,596 posts)That was not a left field question. Bad management as far as her braintrusts go

(7,637 posts)She correctly re centered the discussion on the kentucky race instead of giving a sound bite for gop adds ( cue the ominous voice "she voted for barack obama"
When you are in a tight race you do not give openings to your opponent.

I didn't think she seemed unprepared, either. Or "deer in the headlights" as I heard a pundit say.
To me, she seemed calm and in control, not at all caught off guard.
Guess that's what makes a horse race, as they say.

(111,110 posts)You have to understand how much they have made Barack Obama a negative in KY.
However, I do like your response and will try to pass it on to her before their debate.
