WTF this country puts people through is unbelievable!!! U.S. justice temporarily blocks Idaho gay

marriage.

For a nation that brags about freedom and equality and equal opportunity to the rest of the world, the endless struggle for civil rights in the US is astounding. Anything, involving civil rights in the US is ALWAYS a constant struggle. All the F'en shit going on in the world, and this is a major issue. Yet many more WTF's.

(Reuters) - U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy on Wednesday temporarily blocked an appeals court ruling that struck down Idaho's gay marriage ban.

The brief order issued by the court said that gay marriage supporters should file a response to the state's emergency request by 5 p.m. EDT (2100 GMT) on Thursday. The court will then decide whether to issue a more permanent stay. In the meantime, gay marriages in Idaho will not be able to proceed.

The filing by the state said that officials have also asked the San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to place its Tuesday ruling on hold while litigation continues. Kennedy is seen as the swing vote on the nine-justice court when it comes to gay marriage.

3. No. I meant to issue a temporary stay.

That way the court can decide, which according to article will be decided tomorrow.

It is apparently Idaho which is prolonging the torture, as you say.

maybe here or there, and for what reason does this nonsense continue. The lunacy of it all is astounding, some just gotta be authoritarians and control freaks. It all gets so absurd it's laughable, except it is not, it is so damn pathetic.

5. Sometimes it is not the issue as much as it is the language

Legal language can be tricky, and often how a law is written is the problem, not the law itself.
Since 30 or so states have made marriage equal, I can't see how the Supremes can erase it all.

7. I was just telling someone today that would be incredible, there is so much momentum.

It would go down in history as even more of an outrage than Citizens United. And what would be next, repeal the civil rights acts of the 60's. Why equality is often so difficult in the US, I do not understand. It is an absolute fight every step of the way by every group seeking civil rights.
