If The GOP Is In Good Shape This Election Our Country Needs Its Head Examined.

After all the crap the GOP has pulled and all the race hate and women hate I am appalled the GOP is supposedly in good shape. Despite all the propaganda they should not be winning. What the hell is wrong with this country. It is a given the GOP will put us right down the toilet with their policies. And even GOPPERS will be screwed.

I simply do not get it. Has all common sense gone away in the US?

The fact that they are still a major political party that wins elections after all this time proves the worst case scenario of all the points of your post.

The general public is exhausted. Starvation, underemployed/unemployment and poverty have us so beat down, we can't think.

There's no time to keep up with the truth or the lies when you are trying to run a household, hoping to find the time and money to get to town to the food bank (on the one day it is open) and then to the doctor, to get birth control or medicine for the kids, all while bumming a ride with your crazy cousin that requires gas money or she will not give you a ride.

Logistics alone are time consuming and exhausting. Just ask your mother.

Notwithstanding the MSM is just a propaganda machine on free Tee Vee, which is all you can afford... unless you trade your EBT card for cash to pay your cable bill, which is now $300, because you were late last month.

I have learned buckets on my one woman voter registration drive around my world. Buckets for a lifetime. This Friday at 1700, that drive ends for me for 2014. I know that I have done my small part and I pray to Gawd that hearts and minds have been opened by my efforts.

Texas needs a lot more for 2016 if we are ever going to turn this around. As far as 2014, I would be pleasantly shocked if Wendy Davis beat the sniveling, lying, piece of crap the is called Greg Abbott. She will have helped many down ballot races and we will get more blue though!

always seems to swing every eight years or so, one way or the other.

As you posted "The general public is exhausted. Starvation, underemployed/unemployment and poverty have us so beat down, we can't think. "

People will give the other party a try. The problem as I see it, is the lack of respect each party has for one another. If they could learn to "play" together I think our lives would be different..

just my thought

A huge number of people have given up on politics. They don't think any of it matters one bit. Besides, with these new voting machines, they can make any kind of outcome they want. People know about that shit. They talk about it. I often think they're right.

The country will NOT put up with obstruction and filibusters!

At least that is the excuse we always hear when we expect the Dems to obstruct the cons

In many cases, the answer is no. GOP-lite is not that much different from GOP.

Not "Ferguson" as in the shooting of Michael Brown. "Ferguson" as in the town that's run by a minority because the majority doesn't vote.

That's us, especially at midterms. The New York Times reported several months ago that the Democrats' key to not getting slaughtered is the young single woman vote. Stu Rothenberg said again recently that he sees teh GOP picking up 7 Senate seats, but the Dems could actually hold the Senate is they turn out young single women on election day.

You know who, historically, doesn't vote in midterms? Young single women. It's why GOTV is so important to us, and voter suppression tactics are so important to them.

Beyond that, though, what's taking place is also the Big Sort continued. The only races that actually surprise me this election season are WI (gov), MI (gov) and IA (sen). Otherwise, it's largely them winning their states and us winning ours, as the civil war enters year 154...

1) Know POTUS is a Democrat
2) Are unaware of the balance of powers and how GOP policies/obstruction are bad for them
3) Are uninformed, misinformed or, in the case of the typical Faux Newz viewer, malinformed
4) Because #1 above hasn't worked as well as they'd like, they feel the need for a change in leadership

I combat 2 and 3 to curb 4 by discussing civics and pointing out facts such as 55 consecutive months of private sector job growth, insane trade policies, what's really inside the Romney/Ryan budget (which is still their working set of proposals), Obamacare truth vs. fiction, etc.
