Just now on the Andrea Greenspan Comedy Variety Hour.
He's very concerned.

Really banging that drum to send ground troops into Syria.

(12,530 posts)that phrasing earns you a virtual gold star.
As to McCain, I didn't think he was too discriminatory about who we bombed.

(11,495 posts)Since Boehner and the rest of the republicans in the house aren't working, and they seem to have a lot of time on their hands, why not just send them over their to "spot" targets. Of course McCain and Lindsay can go with them.
the only problem is he can't fly the planes, might crash them before he gets there which means we'll need someone else to fly with him stuck to the front of the plane.

(7,113 posts)If McGrumpy is right, then it's a rotten shame the U.S. taxpayer has been spending billions to bankroll all these highly advanced military capabilities to do such things as ID targets, when apparently the only thing that works is a few 18-year-old privates on foot looking around.

(59,503 posts)It is really hard to believe that American soldiers, knowing little or no Arabic, could even identify friend vs foe. If sent in, ground troops are unlikely to be identifying targets, but attacking already identified targets.
Not to mention, there are many reasons why Obama does not want US ground troops there - including the fact that there are troops from the region whose fight it is. That alone could make them better than US troops. In addition, they would there to stay.

If he wants to go on news shows and play the game "If I were Commander in Chief," then he should face the same scrutiny as the current CinC.

(16,423 posts)ISIS' army is suited around cavalry-tactics: Lightning-raids with fast vehicles.
* They need vehicles they can outfit with machine-guns.
* They need gas.
* They need workshops for maintenance.
Gas is their greatest weakness. If they can't move their army, there is enough time to amass firepower to wipe them out and they are sitting ducks.
