Why is media calling Daesh by the name they want "ISIS" instead of what they are - Daesh?

They are terrorists, not an "Islamic State" of anything or anywhere.

CNN is supposed to be an international news service. It can't get enough of promoting "ISIS" the way they want to be promoted - as if they represent an official state and the "Islamic" religion. It doesn't.

The US' corporate media is STUPID.

Perhaps DU can set a standard?

Daesh.
Daesh.
Daesh.

1. No, Daesh is an acronym and it is considered derogatory by ISIS/ISIL

it stands for al-Dawlah al-Islāmīyah fī al-ʻIrāq wa-al-Shām

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_State_of_Iraq_and_the_Levant

On 29 June 2014, the establishment of a new caliphate was announced, and the group formally changed its name to the "Islamic State" (IS).

The name "Dāʻish"—pronounced /ˈdaːʕiʃ/ and transliterated as "Dāʻish" or "Daʻesh"—is used particularly by ISIS's detractors, such as those in Syria. It is based on the Arabic letters dāl, alif, ʻayn, and shīn, which form the acronym (داعش of ISIL/ISIS's Arabic name al-Dawlah al-Islamīyah fī al-ʻIrāq wa-al-Shām. The group considers the term derogatory and reportedly punishes with flogging those who use the acronym in ISIS-controlled areas.

They do NOT represent a religion or a state - why go along with their lie the way they want?

After all, they will be the ones who will be charged in the long run with defeating and ostracizing Daesh.

Just as it has always been up to peaceful Christians to take back their religion from their psychotic extremists.
