This Adorable Pit Bull Was Nearly Beaten To Death, But Nothing Will Smash His Spirit

Odin the pit bull goes swimming over the summer.

It is something of a miracle that Odin the pit bull survived a beating that broke his skull in three places and left him blind.

His rescuers almost can't believe how well he's healed. Or that the people who did this to him haven't been caught.

Odin was stolen from his previous owner's yard in Wilmington, Delaware, this past spring. He was later discovered badly hurt, having been left to die in an alley not far from his home.

The nature of his injuries indicate Odin's blocky grey head was smashed with a brick.

"We were not sure he was going to make it," says Lauren Verfaillie Ramone, founder of Pit Bull Pride of Delaware. She became responsible for the dog after he was picked up by animal control and brought to the Veterinary Specialty Center of Delaware.

And to think there are some hateful people - even on DU - who look at this wonderful dog and only can only respond to say his attacker should have finished the job.

A gang of Pitbulls never abducted a random person from their fenced in home, smashed their head in with a brick and left them to die in an alley.

That behavior is the exclusive domain of the homo sapiens.

Especially dogs, who want nothing more than to be your loving friend unless thoroughly abused.

Heart-breaking, but I'm glad this story has a happy ending.

Hopefully he finds a caring, responsible human to love.
