National Review Writer: Women Who Have Abortions Should Be Hanged

By DANIEL STRAUSS Published SEPTEMBER 29, 2014, 2:58 PM EDT

Kevin Williamson, a correspondent for National Review, suggested Monday that women who have abortions should be hanged.

Williamson's tweet came in a back-and-forth on twitter that started with Williamson's piece criticizing a blog post by actress and director Lena Dunham on why women should vote.

The key part of the exchange was captured by Charles Johnson of the blog Little Green Footballs. Here is the exchange:

in the 1957 AND promoted Barry Goldwater. Nothing it has done since redeemed it from those sins. To the contrary, it continues to be shameful:

Current editor and contributors

The magazine's current editor is Rich Lowry. Many of the magazine's commentators are affiliated with think-tanks such as the Heritage Foundation and American Enterprise Institute. Prominent guest authors have included Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, and Sarah Palin in the on-line and paper edition.

.....

Finances

As with most political opinion magazines in the United States, National Review carries little corporate advertising. The magazine stays afloat by donations from subscribers and black-tie fund raisers around the country. The magazine also sponsors cruises featuring National Review editors and contributors as lecturers.[26][37]

Buckley said in 2005 that the magazine had lost about $25,000,000 over fifty years.[38]

Also contributors, the likes of Ann Coulter, Robert Novak, George Will and a host of other usual asshats suspects.

All the above info was quoted or gleaned from:

Who should really be hanged, a woman who makes an agonizing choice, or so-called journalists who recklessly risk inflaming crazies to violence with comments about hanging people who are not only not violating any law, but are exercising a constitutional right?

if it weren't for my mother having an ectopic pregnancy terminated. My father had to move her from a Catholic hospital so that she could get the life-saving procedure done. A few years later, they had me - because my mother was alive to have me.

I'm very much pro-life - the life it saved was my own. My opinions just don't coincide with supposed "Pro-lifers". Anybody that wants to force a woman to die instead of terminating a pregnancy that will kill her is dumber than a bag of hair and defeats their own purposes.

Anybody that wants to force a 10 year old child that is a victim of incest and sexual abuse to bear a child is inhumane.

Anybody that wants to force a woman that is raped to bear the child of her tormentor not only agrees with her torment, but wants to exacerbate it.

Anybody that wants to make a decision about whether or not a woman should be forced to bear a child for any reason wishes to make her a slave. No one has the right to force a woman's uterus to bear children. You aren't that important. If a woman decides to abort a pregnancy, she has good reason for doing so and if it hurts your feelings, too bad. She didn't want to bear your seed and probably has very good reasons for not wanting to do so, such as "I can't afford to give a child the life they deserve", "I don't like you that much to commit to a lifetime of being associated with you", or "the condom broke and you aren't worth my time".

All of those are valid reasons.

But I would like to add: Women, please think more of yourselves than to have sex with a man with whom you would take the attitude, "the condom broke and you aren't worth my time." Sex is serious business, no matter how much we deny that. If the condom breaks, you will bear the child, suffer (and often pay for) the abortion, or maybe get the STD. Please be discriminating about the people with whom you share your body. Nurture your pride and self-esteem.

Couple is married. Woman gets pregnant, man (husband) tells her she needs to get an abortion, because children cost money and he is a control freak tightwad. Wife has no familial descendants, children, or nieces or nephews. Husband has good job and good insurance. He's trying to get her to put it off until she's too old to have babies, and then it won't be his responsibility.

Woman, being pro-choice and pregnant, refuses to get said abortion. Parent have resources and maturity to raise child, although husband does not believe wife is competent. He thinks he's God. Husband stops taking baths and refuses to have sex after woman recovers from childbirth, because he's afraid of being "trapped" into fatherhood. Wife and husband never discussed contraception or how many kids they wanted before marriage. Condoms have never been mentioned or used in this.

Three years after healthy beautiful child is born, mother finally gets tired of being told in so many words that her child is not attached to her emotionally by husband, and files for divorce. Husband is baffled after withholding affection of any kind of years. Husband also stops doing activities both he and wife enjoy, after child is born, because he is "tied down" by a baby, and he is trying to punish the wife for having a healthy beautiful baby.

What kind of a mentally ill person is that? MAD at his wife for producing a healthy, normal, beautiful baby? Hates women, hates children, apparently too late for the wife to figure out.

Because of the TMA issue: too many assholes. I am childfree and actually had myself "fixed" in 2012 because I didn't trust what asshats in a potential Romney administration would do to restrict my right to safe and (currently) legal reproductive self-determination.

It wasn't even so much that I would ever electively want to get pregnant.

I even feared having to carry a potential pregnancy to term if I was raped.
Because after all, it's "my fault" if such a thing were to happen, amirite?

One Dick Murdoch said something along the lines of pregnancy by rape is an act of God. No way in hell, heaven, Middle Earth or any other fictional realm was I ever going to let these idiots make decisions about MY BODY. So rather than take my chances I just did away with the whole thing.

We are living in very volatile times in which TPTB simply cannot be trusted to make the humane and logical decision to leave women the fuck alone. I know at least in the abstract that it's #notallmen who think this way, but I really just can't take my chances, especially being on a college campus and all.

I think we need a Lysistrata 2.0 to get these guys where they live. No sugar tonight in your coffee, no sugar tonight in your TEA.

Sanctimonious shitbags that think this is a new phenomenon are either completely ignorant of the female human body and history, or think of themselves as so fantastic that their genetics simply must go on.

...but also to remove your ability to have any more children. And since it would do it fairly reliably, it was kind of the Salem Witchcraft Trial of the era: if you're not a witch you won't drown when we shove your head under water and hold it there for twenty minutes, so it goes without saying that if you drown from this you had to have been a witch.

What that passage really says is frightening: if you think one of your 85 wives is screwing around on you, it's totally permissible to destroy her body in retaliation. The only way they can convince anyone to become a Christian, is to keep them from reading the primary book of the faith.

Especially daughters. This country is not safe for them. Even the far more civilized EU is no longer protected from Islamofascist whack jobs who spill over the borders and blow up subway trains to impose their primitive Sharia bullshit on modern society. These so-called pro-lifers are going to get a big, bad wake-up call if people just stop having kids (or engage in Chinese-style sex-selective abortions) and have no more daughters anymore because of walking scrota like Williamson, Todd Akin, Ray Rice, and Elliott Rodgers -- not to mention the inbred morons in politics who give them carte blanche to do and say what they do. Because "religious freedom" or "she antagonized him" or "the pre-born soul" or some other schizo nutcase horseshit like that.

Without any more girls to victimize, there won't be any more nurturing mothers to rear their precious scions. And then their whole attempt at purifying the human race for Jebus (or Allah) will have backfired: there won't be any more humans to swallow their Kool Aid anymore.

But hey, maybe mass extinction is exactly what these assholes need. Too bad it wouldn't be just them being rendered fossils like the dinosaurs they don't even believe exist.

This answer really hit it home to me

@AngryBlackLady "Because he knows that almost every pro-lifer is one unintended pregnancy away from being pro-choice."

Because how many doctors and nurses can tell stories about a staunch pro-lifer coming in for an abortion? Lots.

These smug, self-righteous assholes can spout all this nonsense because they will never have to decide whether or not to have an abortion. They don't care if a woman dies, she's just a baby incubator that might be making new woman-hating males, so they are far more important. When did every single human zygote become so important? Have we become so self-centered that we think we need infinite copies of ourselves? Why are these people so fucking insane?

The whole abortion uproar is ridiculous. Women do not get pregnant just to lose the baby. Men who think that -- women who think that -- are way out of touch.

Abortion is sort of like homosexuality was 40 years ago. People oppose it without realizing that some of the people they like or even love have abortions or have had an abortion. It's just ignorance about the medical facts of pregnancy, birth and conception.

Then my husband asked him, "If your baby is a girl, and she has an abortion, do you think she should be tried for homicide?"

The young man was silent. He really couldn't answer that question.

Women have abortions for many reasons. If this loudmouth Republican's daughter had an ectopic pregnancy or some other horrible complication, he would have a different opinion. When your daughter's life hangs in the balance, you feel differently I strongly suspect.

People who say that abortions are homicide don't know much about the potential complications of pregnancy and birth. They should not be given media attention. They are ignorant.

Google it...it'll scare the hell out of you. It was written in 1985, the movie came out somewhere around 1988. Dystopian future, totalitarian Christian theocracy set up after a staged terrorist attack (blamed, of course, on Islamic extremists) that killed the President & most of Congress. The Constitution is immediately suspended on the pretext of restoring order. Women lose all rights and are used as breeders for the ruling class. Anyone having an abortion is hung, along with the doctor who performed it. Something tells me just like "Atlas Shrugged" is Paul Ryan's bible, this is Williamson's.

Be afraid...be very afraid. This is EXACTLY what these assholes are working towards. Then work to GOTV in November. If we can get (especially) young women to the polls, we'll get these idiots out office. Otherwise, we're screwed. And not in the good way.
