Is there anything corporate America hasn't screwed up for the consumer??

From putting so many commercials on any sports event that a person can't remember who had the last down, which team was at bat, which boxer was boxing, whose turn was it to hit the ball in golf, etc. to loading the internet, another enjoyable thing for people down the tubes because of the plethora of advertising, ad infinitum.

To using personal info on facebook..a lot of people enjoy themselves with their facebook friends.

To making products that don't work right, or don't work for long and don't work right out of the box..right from the hand operated can openers to toasters that the slots are too short to toast a whole slice of bread, to dishwashers that won't clean the dishes, to washing machines that leak, also ad infinitum. You name the product.

Isn't there ANYTHING people can enjoy that corporate America hasn't messed up?

An old dishwasher, an old toaster, an old oven, and an old refrigerator. They all work fine.
I had a Lexmark ink jet printer from 1999-2010. Since then I have had to buy 4 printers.
I would have to ponder your question for a while.

Our dryer needed a new belt after a couple of years. At least it lasted that long. Mr. Shraby put a new belt on.
My first washer and dryer set lasted 14 years and didn't need to fix them once. (six in the family then), got a new set cause I wanted a new set. The second set lasted as long and we needed to sell them because we went on the road for Mr. Shraby's job.

it lasted until the drum started rusting. I have another refurbished older model which I hope lasts a long time. Apparently the motors in the newer ones are delicate, so be sure you don't overload them. The front loading ones are really crappy because they invariably quit when the washer is full of water and the only way to get it out is to open the door and let it rush out onto the floor. I would never buy one of those.

I had to break down and get rid of my trusty 40 yr old cooking stove last year because parts were getting hard to come by. I'm appalled with the new one I have, the metal is barely thicker than a bloody beer can. Apparently they don't much outlast the warranty either. They can't be fixed because the computer control panel is more expensive to buy than a new stove.

I drove my trusty, solid Sunbird for 22 years. Now I have an Echo, and again, the metal is so thin you can dimple it with your finger.

I can't use much made of plastic anymore because the smell is so bad it makes me sick, and the stink doesn't dissipate the way it used to. My Mr's theory is that China is mixing their toxic waste into their products to get rid of it and I tend to believe him.

aided and abetted by the people whose salaries we pay and who we vote for.

They abolish laws and regulations, fail to promulgate or enact new ones and are a lot, um, cosier with those they are supposed to regulate than they are with the general public, which they are supposed to protect.

I am not saying corporate America is good, but I don't pay salaries and rent and the light bill and travel expenses for GE, whose legal duty it is to look after its stockholders. I do for local, state and federal government, whose legal duty it is to look out for us.

All seem to be kicking ass..

Well, the fridge is actually the same model we had at the last house, just stainless now-
Samsung, rock solid-

Been using the shit out of the LG washer and dryer, they work like a champ. The washing machine is one heavy beast though!

Verizon shipped a new router with better wi-fi range, it worked out of the box, plug-n-play-

My 03' Dakota still has front end issues no matter how many parts I replace though so I guess you might have a point. The cam bolts keep working themselves loose plus Chrysler was never good at making ball joints

It's fun to imagine corporations as a dark, organized force but, in the end, all their successes and their failures and their community help and their egregious excesses are the result of decisions by individuals.

The lyrics to the songbird's melodious trill go something like this:
"Stay out of my territory or I'll PECK YOUR GODDAMNED EYES OUT!"

The games were not interrupted by nonstop commercials. But the NFL is a joke. Even if you pay an arm and a leg for NFL Sunday Ticket on top of that you are forced to sit through endless commercials. It's greed at its very worst.
