(82,849 posts)Texans would start electing Democrats to office to regulate rogue industries? But if it's just one, like West, the population shrugs, says, "Better them than me," and goes back to voting for Louie Gohmert, Steve Stockman and Rick Perry.
There's about a zillion great reasons for Texans to vote, and to vote differently in 2014.

(20,852 posts)Republicans pack tons and tons of Democrats into a minority of the districts while walking away with the majority of the state seats. Even with a overwhelming majority of voters unless they win the key offices Republicans will continue to redistrict Texas to benefit them. Meanwhile Republicans complain about voter fraud.

(82,849 posts)But Texas keeps electing doorknobs like Rick Perry in state-wide contests. I have heard over the years how Texas is trending Democratic, and I really want it to be true. But winning offices, not losing 52-48 when Democrats used to lose 55-45, is the measure of the trend. If Wendy Davis wins the governorship, I'll be as heartened as anyone. Davis, a credible candidate, is trailing yet another doorknob by double digits. That can't be explained by district rigging.
