San Mateo County judge sentenced to two days in jail for driving drunk

A San Mateo County judge arrested over the Memorial Day weekend for driving drunk has been sentenced to two days in county jail and three years of probation.

Superior Court Judge Joseph Craig Scott, 63, pleaded no contest through his attorney to a misdemeanor DUI charge, according to the district attorney's office.

During his arraignment on Aug. 5, Scott pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor drunken driving charges, including one for driving with a blood-alcohol content of .08 percent or higher. His case was set for jury trial on Oct. 27.

But on Wednesday, his defense attorney Richard Keyes entered a no contest plea on Scott's behalf to a single misdemeanor charge of DUI.

I wonder if an average citizen would've gotten a two-day sentence?

First offense, cop a plea, I think 48 hours isn't unusual. NYC_SKP Sep 2014 #2

Add to that fines and some educational program while on probation, loss or reduction in driving privileges.

I'm glad he didn't walk altogether.
