Hundreds of thousands of demonstrators marched through Manhattan on Sunday to demand bold action to combat global warming. Sen. Bernie Sanders joined the march that organizers said drew 400,000 people. Bernie and Sen. Barbara Boxer are the co-sponsors of the most comprehensive climate change legislation in Congress – a bill that puts a tax on carbon and billions of dollars into energy efficiency and sustainable energy. In interviews in New York City, Bernie said that it was an international embarrassment that the Republican Party was blocking almost all efforts to reduce carbon emissions. “You have a major political party that is rejecting science and is impeding us at every step of the way," said Bernie, who serves on the Senate energy and environment committees. “The only way to put pressure on government is to do exactly what we are doing today—taking to the streets.”

Bernie praised fellow Vermonter Bill McKibben, who founded the international environmental group 350.org. “Bill and all those who worked with him to organize this extraordinary demonstration know that the only way we defeat the powerful fossil fuel companies, and reduce carbon emissions, is when people around the globe take to the streets and demand action from their governments. Sunday’s march was a great step forward in that effort.”

weren't there. Does that mean we and Hillary don't care about climate change?

Hillary at least has said things about it in the past. With all the cites (includes Omaha) that had activities, she could have at least made a pro-action comment about that day.

But she hasn't commented on a "Michael's hands were in the air" situation either.

Schumers ofc said He was there too---I saw some photos..of (politicians) de Blasio etc and Schumer is nowhere to be found...hmmm

4. Barbara Boxer helped Sen Sanders on his work to promote this historic event. John Kerry

issued a statement in support of the Global March. And others supported it even if they were unable to be there.

Don't expect any Corporate Funded politicians to comment on a movement that hopefully will help bring the Oil era to an end in the not too distant future, before it is too late.

5. I did read that

I called a few senators offices to see what if any action they'd taken....
When I called Sen Pauls ofc--it was funny how his staffer answered--as if perhaps I wasn't the only one who called to see if He put his money where his liberal sounding mouth is and NO, he did Not apparently attend nor involve himself in Any of the many actions that day either.
And politicians in general appear to be confused as to Why "we" have Zero confidence in congress these days?
I was told by Merkleys local ofc that his calendar was confidential..even if it was in the past...and Wyden's ofc had, as usual, no info/comment-only a promise to get a response to any concerns/comments I had/have-which usually takes no less than about 12 weeks.
I'm guessing however if I had a six-figure donation I could probably talk to the good senators in person--immediately
It would seem candidates especially would Want to be out rubbing elbows with the commoners in solidarity with on this issue.

I believe these things matter in the bigger picture as, for me anyway, Actions speak Louder than Political Bullet Point Comments/Speeches.

7. Money talks, as we know. We are not represented because the people cannot compete

financially with Corporate entities who own so many of our Representatives now.

It is, imo, a CRISIS at this point. How to end it now that we have no doubts left as to why things only continue to worsen, that is the question.

But Global Marches like this one are a start. The people going Global rather than trying to operate in their individual countries was and is necessary.

Strikes eg, can help change things. A strike on a Global Level could bring down a corrupt Corporation.

So regardless of what our elected Reps did wrt to THIS Global March, I see much hope in over 150 countries participating finally in a march on such an enormous issue.

So I asked you why you didn't go. I was there.

8. HRC was in NYC. She was hosting the Clinton Foundation Awards that evening. I

think she might have been busy crosstown.
