Get this man off the road!

Infiniti - Are these the drivers you court, and is this how you court them?

You show, in a single trip, a driver failing to maintain their lane, almost turning into another car, and almost rear-ending a transit truck. If that's the people who drive your vehicles, keep them off the road, because that's not 'freeing them to drive' that's exposing everyone else to a careless marauder who is only being prevented by your technology.

Perhaps, when you sell a vehicle you should offer defensive driving courses, because you apparently feel your drivers are inept.

Promoting safety they are saying it is all right to be stupid..... Imagine a teenager learning to drive in this and then trying to drive without it.

I'll tell you this, if they drive like this guy, the beeps, lights, whatever isn't going to help him. I wonder how many people will be killed because the are depending on the car's 'warning' signals?

6. IMHO the commercial can be taken in two ways

Obviously if one has 30 seconds to say, "the car has automatic safety features", then one has to show examples of it in action.

If you've never been taken by surprise or failed to notice something when you are driving, then congratulations.

But I think the commercial is merely to demonstrate the safety features of the car.

it has a lots of new safety features standard. It had lane departure warnings that rapidly vibrate your seat...along with the now standard backup camera. It takes a bit getting use to as they are sensitive, I rather have the vibrate than alarms. I haven't figure out the imminent collision warning yet.

It was during a blowing snow storm and the guy in front of me panicked and stopped on i55. I saw his lights and didn't realize he was stopped so I was going to wait for the car overtaking on my left before changing lanes.

I swerved pretty hard at the last second and heard this loud "clunk" on the right side. I thought I swiped him but realized after the fact that it was the brakes on that side engaging. The car jerked around and straitened out as if it were on tracks.

That feature is required on all cars as of, iirc, 2011. Damn nanny state gubmint. They figure it will save about 4000 lives per year.

Fortunately, these advances in technology are leading to self-driving cars, something I wholeheartedly support, in order to take the wheel away from drivers like in this ad.

The other problem is that vehicle manufacturers sell a fantasy. A fantasy of the professional driver on the closed course putting the vehicle through its paces. My estimate is that maybe 1/10th of 1% of the vehicle owners out there would ever have the skills to match, much less the courage to attempt any of those maneuvers. I really don't understand the mindset of the manufacturers when they create such asinine ads.

I will personally take any technology that can help prevent another driver from killing me.

I'm right there with you. I said something similar to my wife the first time that commercial came on... the guy would never pass the DMV license test. Really dumb commercial if you think about it.
