I have an online photographer friend living in Northern Iraq who speaks of the danger to the Kurds from "Dash." Is this who we refer to as ISIS?

I had sent him a message last night inquiring as to his welfare, and he said that things had quieted down some in northern Iraq, but that Dash (which is how he spelled it) continued to be a threat to the Kurds. He lives in Duhok, and is a really good photographer.
