when she went over the list of military equipment used in last night's bombing raids by our so-called "allies" in the area. With the exception of the French jet, all of the planes used by the five "allies" were either new or used US military. I saw in an instant that the real reason behind this new war is to create new and larger markets for US war producers. As I've said many times before, boys and girls, it's ALWAYS about the money. You can never go wrong if you remember that.

(10,597 posts)... because I refuse to listen to it. Frankly, I was shocked that she devoted so much time to it. Had to turn the channel. I did come back later, thinking she was probably over the military news, but nope, still on it. So, again, thank you for the synopsis and assumption. We all know about the dough that the MIC rakes in on our wars, but this just pops out in your face, doesn't it? We need to take profit out of war, just like we need to take profit out of lots of other things, front and center would be health care.

(2,682 posts)This is a capitalist country. The sole function of capitalism is for the monied to make more money (using the sweat and tears of others, of course). This country rejected any other system a long time ago so every national decision made is with an eye to who makes the money. Some times it isn't so obvious (WW II, for example -- Hitler/Nazis were entirely evil) but in the recent past, it becomes more and more obvious. #1-Oil; #2-military. Oh, you want health care and education -- HA, if you have the money you can have the services, otherwise, as Alan Grayson said, if you get sick, die quick.

(129,069 posts)The "business model" has been imposed on every aspect of life - whether for goods and services (traditional) or in education, health, and government (non-traditional). This is the nature of this country that chose capitalism for its economic system.

(7,006 posts)Entertainment value as the Corporate Media Highly paid Political Pundit owed lock, stock and barrel by GE/Comcast and a small bit of Microsoft -- still manages nightly to fool the many masses into thinking any words she speaks are not rubber stamps by the same powers that be oppressing the 99%.
What has happen to the Maddow "Beautiful Bean Footage" of Ferguson, MO. How about "On the Scene" for a week and five days "Reporter" Chris Hayes? In fact, are either of their HIGHLY paid political pundits talking one word as of late that Darren Wilson -- the killer of Mike Brown -- is still free as a bird?
As for the "War" coverage of the Maddow and Company -- it frankly made me sick. Considering to start a debate on why unauthorized United States mini war 1,336,298 is occurring today REQUIRES a honest discussion on how WE created ISIS. We being the America Government of the United States by arming the "moderate" rebels in the Middle East who turned "evil" and formed ISIS.
Until the discussion starts at that TRUTH, I care none of what the Maddow is selling on how of course our so-called Arab Assistance in the bombing from the air raid on Syria against ISIS used planes supplied by the USA Military after parts. OF COURSE this would happen as did anyone think they were using their OWN Military jets for this?
Heck no!

(4,973 posts)Some might forget that in the comfort of a home or neighborhood not being invaded by raving lunatics.
Those warring religious whackjob zealots in the middle east and elsewhere also use money to accomplish really twisted goals. I think the time for empathy towards their lunacy is over. Giving them room and making excuses obviously doesn't do anything to make them act like human beings. I admit that the US is complicit in making war tools available, but without those, they would still have a grand old time with their stoning and beheading.

Seriously. Please provide a citation of anyone on DU who is showing sympathy to IS/ISIS/ISIL (or whatever they're called this week). Because I haven't seen it.

(4,973 posts)I was just pointing out that the aggressive faction of their religion has been killing their own for centuries. To try and boil it down to just plain money isn't accurate. Of course mixing capitalist greed with the whole thing makes it worse - but that isn't the root of the problem.

(276 posts)Barack Obama is no different from either Bush or any other US President -- he's owned and operated by the corporations.
The corporations want war, so we have war.
It will be the same with any presidential candidate from either the Republican or the Democratic wing of the Corporate Party.
The people of the US are bamboozled with glitzy propaganda, sexy Fox news shills, and sport, sport, sport ...
Even when genuine saints like Ralph Nader offer themselves as alternatives, the people ignore them and furiously debate the silly issues given to them by the Republican and Democratic candidates. (Who is TOUGHEST on crime? Was John Kerry REALLY a war hero?)
This is a tried and true system, for modern corporate fascism, which is tough to beat.
