I've been convinced of that for some time. When push comes to shove, the GOP doesn't nominate the Huckabees, Cruzes or Rands. And who else is there? Walker? Not a chance. Jindahl? Perry? Portman? Nah, nah and nah.
Christie has a teflon quality to him and I don't think he'd be easy to beat.

(23,295 posts)His mouth would get him in trouble on the national stage. The more visible he is, the less people like him. If his handlers were able to reign in his temper, he would have nothing left. It's who he is.

(114,904 posts)and amazingly, in NJ, his approval rating is 53% even after bridgegate.

(23,295 posts)I just don't think the tough guy thing would work on a national level. Outside of his home state, too many people just roll their eyes when his name comes up.

(32,067 posts)didn't consider Christie as VP. I actually think you might be correct with that educated guess.
I'm thinking Clinton/Castro (Julian) for the dems.

(35,442 posts)Hillary wants VA. Jeb wants Penn. and Ohio, where Christie will help him.

(32,067 posts)she did come and visit with Castro but Texas is still a reach for 2016 (and if demographic numbers were close enough she would get it herself - she is very popular with the Hispanic community here).

(15,384 posts)The other nominees are going to pile on him for bridgegate and ESPECIALLY not fighting against marriage equality in New Jersey (he basically gave up the fight against it). Eight to ten other republicans all coming at him is going to bring out his asshole side, and I predict by the second debate, he's going to explode.

(1,508 posts)He'll win PA and OH. The blue collar working class guys love this asshole. They love the tough guy attitude and bully boy bullshit. Never mind that his policies are terrible for working people.
It's not like whatever Democrat runs will be much better but they'll be a little better. That's the best we can get anymore.

(19,348 posts)Bridgegate exposed Christie to the world as being a stereotype of a politician. Moderate Democrats were enamored with this mob like thug. They no longer are.
