A man who drove up to a White House gate and refused to leave was arrested on Saturday, the Secret Service said, less than 24 hours after another man jumped the fence and made it all the way into the presidential residence before being apprehended. The president and first family were not at home.

The second incident started Saturday afternoon when a man approached one of the White House gates on foot, Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan said. He later showed up at another gate in a car and pulled into the vehicle screening area. When the man refused to leave, he was placed under arrest and charged with unlawful entry.

Bomb technicians, fully suited, could be seen looking through a white four-door sedan with New Jersey plates and pulling out what appeared to be keys. Streets near the White House were temporarily closed as officers responded, but the White House was not locked down.

There were no immediate details about who the man was or why he was trying to enter the White House. President Barack Obama, his wife and daughters were at Camp David, the presidential retreat where the first family was spending the weekend.

They left the WH four minutes before last night's breach.
If the police and army has been infiltrated by RW goons and militia, why not the Secret Service.

A concern, definitely, but not a breach. He was stopped before he could enter.

The fact that the guy tried twice, first on foot and then by car, is concerning.

And of course the guy who jumped the fence is a huge concern because security should have stopped him long before it did.

according to CNN a few minutes ago

<snip>
Omar Gonzalez, the man arrested on Friday after climbing the fence at the White House, was armed with a knife, the US attorney’s office said on Saturday.

Previously, the US Secret Service had said Gonzalez was unarmed.

Gonzalez made his way into the executive mansion, though president Barack Obama and his family were not there.

Gonzalez was charged with unlawfully entering a restricted building or grounds while carrying a “deadly or dangerous weapon”, according to an affidavit released by the US attorney’s office.

If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.

So why did they say he was unarmed?

the living quarters are to the breeched entrance. That's helpful for future fence jumping forays.

a machete and a hatchet. The car was parked not far from the WH.

Thank Bush for one more PTSD victim of the Iraq war. This man was stopped at the WH before. He is a trained sniper. They had his name and the arrest warrant from the last time. This is a complete and total failure of security for the President and his family.

Federal prosecutors alleged Monday in federal court that a man who jumped a fence and ran into the White House’s unlocked front door Friday night posed a threat to President Obama and was keeping 800 rounds of ammunition, two hatchets and a machete in his car, parked blocks away.

Omar Jose Gonzalez, 42, formerly of Copperas Cove, Tex., appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge John M. Facciola of the District on one charge of unlawfully entering a restricted building or grounds while carrying a deadly or dangerous weapon.

After a 15-minute hearing, Facciola ordered Gonzalez held until Oct. 1, pending revocation of bond by authorities in an unrelated July 19 incident in Wythe County, Va. In that case, he was arrested while allegedly carrying a sawed-off shotgun, two sniper rifles and several other firearms, as well as a map of the Washington area with the Masonic Temple in Alexandria, Va., circled and a line pointed toward the White House, a local prosecutor said.

Earlier, on Aug. 25, Assistant U.S. Attorney David Mudd said, U.S. Secret Service officers saw Gonzalez carrying a hatchet in the back waistband of his pants along the south fence of the White House and questioned him.
Gonzalez agreed to let them search his vehicle, parked nearby on New York Avenue NW, but at that time they found only camping gear and two dogs, and released him.

The Secret Service were notified after his arrest in Virginia. This is beyond slackness.

Jealous lover or competitor, robbery, terrorism, trying to get the attention of a movie star (Jodie Foster)? the usual motives?

I am so suspicious and I hope I'm wrong. I couldn't stand to see something happen to him or his family. We went through this once, and once is more than enough. It makes me so sad.

All of them should be fired, but who can be trusted to vet the new people to handle security?

TPTB were sending a message. Maybe be a little more aggressive in taking on Assad and other neocon targets? But I'm sure, on second thought, one would realize this is America and things like that could never happen here.
