Peterson deactivated-again

well, I called that one right. Once Anheuser-Busch weighed in, the writing was on the wall.

Minnesota Vikings Reverse Course, Suspend Adrian Peterson

The Minnesota Vikings have reversed course on its handling of running back Adrian Peterson, placing him on the exempt/commissioner’s permission list – meaning he is suspended indefinitely from all team activities amid the running back’s child-abuse case.

Peterson was indicted last week in Montgomery County, Texas, on a count of reckless or negligent injury to a child, after he reportedly used a switch, or a tree branch, to spank his son.

My post in Sports yesterday:

I'm going to make a prediction: Peterson won't play on Sunday
The Vikings miscalculated in hastily reinstating him. Now advertisers are starting to weigh in. Governor Dayton has said he should be suspended. So has Franken. Anheuser-Busch has strongly expressed their disapproval. Nike has pulled his jersey.

By Thursday or Friday, the Vikings will say something along the lines of how they have new information and they'll pull him from Sunday's game.

Money talks.

They had their logo interspersed with the Viking logo at press conferences and they pulled their sponsorship as well.

You said money talks. Worse: The money is walking. The action should be fast and furious now in the NFL offices.

The owner is, from all accounts, a decent guy, but his kid is an entitled brat. The GM is not a PR guy and is in way over his head. They need a crisis doctor in there now. You're right, they've really made a mess of this.

a) NFL fans are funny as hell
b) They disapprove at about a 70 - 30 rate - the same as the rest of the country.

But why don't you call A-Busch the hypocrites and credit the fans?

Budweiser would never threaten to pull its ads from the NFL unless THE FANS had applied REAL PRESSURE.
