What would you do in a case like this?

I told the guy (this is on another message board, BTW,) to call CPS.

Tonight wasn't normally much different work-wise tonight, only exception was that it must have been Pot Night. Cause of 7 stops I had, 4 were to groups toking up big time. Of those 4, 2 didn't tip whatsoever, one tipped a whole nickle, the other actually tried to shortchange me by $16 on a $42 order...they didn't get shit to eat tonight. They even called the shop to bitch cause I refused to accept a partial payment and leave the food (This is the second time I had this happen!).

But what bothers me was one of those pot filled stops.

4 adults, so baked that the inside of their trashy apartment looked like London in 1880, but with pot smoke instead of coal smoke. All 4 were red eyed, each one a joint dangling off their lips, a bottle of either beer or hard liquor in their hands. The floor totally littered in empty pizza boxes, food containers and empty alcohol bottes and beer cans.

But what got me was two toddlers in the middle of that mess, one, maybe 2 years old, the older, 4 at the most. Both were utterly filthy, looking like neither seen a bath in weeks, their hands , feet, knees were literally black in dirt, hair matted and caked in dirt. And both were also looking up at me, red eyed and dull expressions.

As I stared at this miserable sight, the guy who ordered gave me a $20 bill on a $19.95 order and snidley says to me "And go get me a Nickle bag with the rest will yah?" *sly, stupid smile on his face.

I was getting a contact buzz just standing at the door with all the smoke, I turned and left and not said a word.

I finished my night and had to stop and get gas outside that very apartmemt complex. I literally could smell pot smoke all the way out there.

As I pay, I asked the cashier "Excuse me, but is it my imagination, or does next door just reeks of Pot?"
She answers "Yeah, its always stinking of weed, and beer, and trash, that whole complex is a Section 8 Housing area. I want a transfer cause I am sick of the shoplifting and beer theft."

I pump my gas, looking at the complex, listeing to yelling and swearing from over there at various locations.

But those two, poor, filthy kids haunt me terribly. As a parent, I'm horrified.

So...do I notifty Child Protective Services over this? Or keep quiet and move on?

Regardless of the story. Seriously, who cares about the pot, the people, the food, the bad tips, the bad evening.

Two filthy toddlers that may not be in the best care. The rest is just a stupid story.

Protect the children.

This is why we invented civilization.

you might put yourself and others where some people would rather not go.

Have you been there before? Were the same kids there?

I'm not saying that the parent does not need to be looked at, and I'm not saying that the others were responsible for something, but I can see at least 3 people who might begrudge you.

I wouldn't be as concerned about the pot as about the liquor and complete lack of care those kids are getting.

It would have to be pretty bad for me to drop a dime and this sounds pretty bad. Expect the oaf who gave you that $20 to figure out who dropped the dime on them but with luck it will take him long enough for the economy to improve so you can get a better job.

In the town the poster lives in, Section 8 apartments are very often run down, neglected, garbage strewn around, the works.

Others are well-kept.

Here in Sheboygan, Section 8 homes and apartments are usually older houses, but are fairly well-kept.
