Lindsey Graham On Abortion Ban: If Pregnant Mom 'Sings To Her Fetus' Then It Must Be A Person

Last edited Tue Sep 16, 2014, 02:39 PM - Edit history (1)

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) defended his proposed abortion ban this week, saying that if a pregnant mother sings to her fetus then it must be considered a person.

Pat Robertson’s Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) reported on Tuesday that potential presidential candidates like former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) had written letters in support of Graham’s bill that would ban abortion in the United States after 20 weeks of pregnancy. “If you’re telling parents to sing to the baby because they understand your voice, really should we be aborting a child at the stage of the pregnancy?” Graham asked the network.

“I don’t want anybody carrying the Republican banner that doesn’t get this. If you don’t get this, then you’re the extremist,” he added. In addition to Bush and Jindal, former Gov. Mike Huckabee (R-AK), Gov. Mike Pence (R-IN), Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), and former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) have all expressed support for the bill.

Critics, however, argue that even if Republicans take over the Senate and Graham is able to pass his bill, the Supreme Court will strike it down because a fetus is not viable until 22 weeks. “Bring it on. I want this debate,” Graham quipped. http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/09/lindsey-graham-on-abortion-ban-if-pregnant-mom-sings-to-her-fetus-then-it-must-be-a-person/

are they people too?

I cannot believe a senator of the united states used that as an argument to defend a law that would deny women access to abortion. Women seeking an abortion after 20 weeks are not doing it because they just don't want their kid. At that stage it is because there is a problem with the developing fetus and /or risks to the health of the mother. Late term abortions are not easy to get and are always a tragic difficult situation that Lindsey Graham and every disgustingly judgmental ignorant fuck who thinks like him should butt out of. What has happened to this country that such woefully stupid people occupy such seats of power?

They patiently listened and occasionally responded with a meow or a purr.

That doesn't make cats people. Though it can be argued cats are a superior species even if there hasn't been a feline Beethoven or Spinoza.

Roe is overturned.

Anti-abortion is a hot-ticket item worth mega-bucks in tithes. Also, they absolutely intend to drive Women's Rights back into the Dark Ages, their misogyny is Bible-driven and so deeply seated in their culture that it's an ecstatic desire..

The first time I read The Handmaid's Tale, I was depressed for weeks. Yes, the infertile wives part was science fiction to drive the plot, but the over-all scheme is exactly how they envision the future.

I truly believe that balkanization of the US sometime within the next 100 years is a likely possibility.
