Yes, there are lots of reasons to feel pissed off and betrayed.
Yes, we can all see many moments where the people who were supposed to lead this party could have made MUCH better and more effective choices, on policy AND on tactics.
Yes, a lot of them DO have a lot of damned nerve to ask anything from us at this point.
But it's not about the party and its failings.
It's not about the screwups of our leaders and our strategists.
It's not about whether THEY want to win this fall or not.
It's about stopping the right-wing, sexist, racist, homophobic, anti-democracy craycray machine in Congress that is doing all it can to drag the country to a screeching halt, just because the country no longer feels obligated to vote for the right-wing white dude in ALL presidential elections.
It's about creating the space to begin making gains again, to stop having to fight nothing but defensive battles, and to re-establish the legitimacy of the great people's victories at the polls in 2008 and 2012(whatever happened after those elections, the results themselves were STILL magnificent triumphs of the human spirit and the right to dream of a better world, the world that does not yet exist, yet the world we NEED).
Fight like hell to hold the Senate AND to take the House in 2014.
Because it's OUR country, and because what we fought for in 2008 and 2012 is still WORTH fighting for in the days and weeks to come, in the cities and towns, in the neighborhoods and suburbs, and even on the farms and in the fields of this land.
It's not about our pols. It's about US.

(25,699 posts)That's the problem coming to a head around here. "less insane than the republicans" wasn't much of a slogan in the 90's, but it worked okay. Now that the Republicans are... whatever the fuck they are these days, that campaign position really doesn't work anymore, does it?
I won't vote for right-wingers, and I don't give a flying fuck what their party identification is. "Less insane than absolute batshit" is still more insanity than I want.
