4. Bush Knew.
Fri Sep 12, 2014, 08:32 PM
Sep 2014

James Hatfield wrote that Bush was afraid of bin Laden aerial attack at G-7 summit in Geneva in April 2001. Bush was too chicken to sleep in the anti-aircraft missile protected luxury hotel on land, so the little coward stayed offshore aboard a U.S. destroyer. Hatfield wrote all about it:

Why would Osama bin Laden want to kill Dubya, his former business partner?

By James Hatfield

Editor's note: In light of last week's horrific events and the Bush administration's reaction to them, we are reprising the following from the last column Jim Hatfield wrote for Online Journal prior to his tragic death on July 18:

July 3, 2001—There may be fireworks in Genoa, Italy, this month, too.

A plot by Saudi master terrorist, Osama bin Laden, to assassinate Dubya during the July 20 economic summit of world leaders, was uncovered after dozens of suspected Islamic militants linked to bin Laden's international terror network were arrested in Frankfurt, Germany, and Milan, Italy, in April.

German intelligence services have stated that bin Laden is covertly financing neo-Nazi skinhead groups throughout Europe to launch another terrorist attack at a high-profile American target—his first since the bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen last October.

According to counter-terrorism experts quoted in Germany's largest newspaper, the attack on Dubya might be a James Bond-like aerial strike in the form of remote-controlled airplanes packed with plastic explosives.

Why would Osama bi Laden want to kill, Dubya, his former business partner?

That was the last thing Hatfield, author of "Fortunate Son," wrote that got published in July, 2001, a few weeks before his suicide cough murder.

I'd download the copy off of the Wayback Machine. For some reason, I can no longer find it at Online Journal.

28. While Bush vacationed, 9/11 warnings went unheard
Sat Sep 13, 2014, 11:44 AM
Sep 2014

From a decade ago:

The Out-of-Towner

While Bush vacationed, 9/11 warnings went unheard.

By Fred Kaplan

In an otherwise dry day of hearings before the 9/11 commission, one brief bit of dialogue set off a sudden flash of clarity on the basic question of how our government let disaster happen.

The revelation came this morning, when CIA Director George Tenet was on the stand. Timothy Roemer, a former Democratic congressman, asked him when he first found out about the report from the FBI's Minnesota field office that Zacarias Moussaoui, an Islamic jihadist, had been taking lessons on how to fly a 747. Tenet replied that he was briefed about the case on Aug. 23 or 24, 2001.

Roemer then asked Tenet if he mentioned Moussaoui to President Bush at one of their frequent morning briefings. Tenet replied, "I was not in briefings at this time." Bush, he noted, "was on vacation." He added that he didn't see the president at all in August 2001. During the entire month, Bush was at his ranch in Texas. "You never talked with him?" Roemer asked. "No," Tenet replied. By the way, for much of August, Tenet too was, as he put it, "on leave."

And there you have it. National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice has made a big point of the fact that Tenet briefed the president nearly every day. Yet at the peak moment of threat, the two didn't talk at all. At a time when action was needed, and orders for action had to come from the top, the man at the top was resting undisturbed.

Throughout that summer, we now well know, Tenet, Richard Clarke, and several other officials were running around with their "hair on fire," warning that al-Qaida was about to unleash a monumental attack. On Aug. 6, Bush was given the now-famous President's Daily Brief (by one of Tenet's underlings), warning that this attack might take place "inside the United States." For the previous few years—as Philip Zelikow, the commission's staff director, revealed this morning—the CIA had issued several warnings that terrorists might fly commercial airplanes into buildings or cities.

And now, we learn today, at this peak moment, Tenet hears about Moussaoui. Someone might have added 2 + 2 + 2 and possibly busted up the conspiracy. But the president was down on the ranch, taking it easy. Tenet wasn't with him. Tenet never talked with him. Rice—as she has testified—wasn't with Bush, either. He was on his own and, willfully, out of touch.

A USA Today story, written right before Bush took off, reported that the vacation—scheduled to last from Aug. 3 to Sept. 3—would tie one of Richard Nixon's as the longest that any president had ever taken. A week before he left, Bush made a videotaped message for the Boy Scouts of America. On the tape, he said, "I'll be going to my ranch in Crawford, where I'll work and take a little time off. I think it is so important for the president to spend some time away from Washington, in the heartland of America."

Dana Milbank and Mike Allen of the Washington Post recently wrote a story recalling those halcyon days in Crawford. On Aug. 7, 2001, the day after the fateful PDB, Bush, they wrote, "was in an expansive mood … when he ran into reporters while playing golf." The president's aides emphasized that he was working, now and then, on a few issues—education, immigration, Social Security, and his impending decision on stem-cell research. On Aug. 29, less than a week after Tenet found out about Moussaoui, Bush gave a speech before the American Legion. The White House press office headlined the text of the address, "President Discusses Defense Priorities." Those priorities: boosting soldiers' pay and abandoning the Anti-Ballistic-Missile Treaty. Nothing about terrorism, Osama Bin Laden, hijackings. Nothing that reflected the PDB or Moussaoui.

Anatomy of a Rove Dirty Trick

by Mary
Sunday :: Sep 19, 2004

Karl Rove is the man behind George W Bush's Presidency. According to William Slater, co-author of Bush's Brain, Rove realized back in 1990 that he could make Bush President, first by getting him elected governor. And so he has. Karl Rove would make his mentor, Lee Atwater, proud. Figuring out how to destroy your enemy while neutralizing his charge without leaving any traces is a Rove speciality. Yet, as all good detectives know, sometimes you find the criminal by matching the MO (modus operandi) of the crime.

Rove's MO is all over the Killian memo controversy that threatens to take down Dan Rather.

During Bush's first run against Ann Richards, Rove knew that he needed to immunize Bush against the charge of being too aggressive and unfair when going after Ann Richards. So what he did was to create an ad where Bush declared, "My opponent attacked me personally." But get this, the ad was made and distributed to TV stations around Texas before any such accusation was made. Then the campaign used numerous taunts, including a whispering campaign that asserted Ann Richards was gay or too gay friendly to encourage her to pop off against Bush. As soon as she did, the previously prepared ad was shown all over Texas and Bush was seen as the innocent victim of an unfair attack by his opponent.

Then in the 2000 election, Rove was behind the destruction of J.H. Hatfield, the author of the book, Fortunate Son, which reported about Bush's use of cocaine when he was younger. As Mike Burke reports, the method was to provide damaging information about Bush's past to someone who could be then discredited.

In 1999, St. Martin's Press published a critical biography of Bush titled "Fortunate Son". The book quoted an unnamed "high-ranking advisor to Bush," who revealed Bush's 1972 drug bust. The source told author J.H. Hatfield, Bush "was ordered by a Texas judge to perform community service in exchange for expunging his record showing illicit drug use."

Hatfield later revealed that his source was none other than Karl Rove. That might seem ridiculous, considering Rove's lifelong loyalty to the Bushes and the fact that he now has an office adjacent to Bush's in the White House. But leaking the story to Hatfield essentially discredited the story and sent it into the annals of conspiracy theory. Soon after the book was published and just as St. Martin's was preparing a high profile launching of the book, the "Dallas Morning News" ran a story revealing that Hatfield was a felon who had served time in jail. In response, St. Martin's pulled the book.

"When the media stumbled upon a story regarding George W. Bush's 1972 cocaine possession arrest, Rove had to find a way to kill the story. He did so by destroying the messenger," says Sander Hicks, the former publisher of Soft Skull, which re-published "Fortunate Son." "They knew the stories of Dubya's cocaine and drink busts would come out, so they made certain that it would come out of the mouth of a guy they could smear," said journalist Greg Palast, who wrote the forward to the final edition of the book.

If Rove was Hatfield's source, he certainly wasn't trying to expose Bush's drug use. Instead he was trying to discredit and ultimately kill the story. And it worked. Few reporters since have dared to touch the story.

So let's look at the latest controversy surrounding Dan Rather. Rather has been a thorn in Bush's side for a long time. Remember, it was Dan Rather who was provided the initial Abu Ghraib photos back in April. Even though they got the documents first, CBS Sixty Minutes II held off for two weeks because of a request from the Pentagon. After Seymour Hersh was given the photos and the Taguba report, his decision to report this story pushed CBS to report on it two days before the New Yorker published the Hersh story. Rather, the reporter that broke this story on TV was now a legitimate target in Rove's war to destroy any who hurt his man. If he succeeds in bringing down Rather, think of the object lesson for other powerful mainstream journalists of what could happen if they were to try to betray Bush.

Among other organizations, NYC artist Mark Lombardi studied the Bush Organized Crime Family and drew connections between the players, events and times, forming social network diagrams.

"George W. Bush, Harken Energy and Jackson Stephens."

He made dozens of these "Social Network Diagrams," connecting the dots between Bushes and bin Ladens and BCCI and the Mafia and CIA and so on.

Above is a detail from "George W. Bush, Harken Energy and Jackson Stephens." Note the Bin Laden -- James R. Bath -- George W. Bush linkage. It was made in 1999. Lombardi was found hanged in his loft in 2000. After 9-11, one NYC gallery reported FBI types came in and inspected his works.

New NSA docs contradict 9/11 claims

“I don’t think the Bush administration would want to see these released," an expert tells Salon

By Jordan Michael Smith
Salon.com
Tuesday, Jun 19, 2012 04:24 PM EDT

Over 120 CIA documents concerning 9/11, Osama bin Laden and counterterrorism were published today for the first time, having been newly declassified and released to the National Security Archive. The documents were released after the NSA pored through the footnotes of the 9/11 Commission and sent Freedom of Information Act requests.

The material contains much new information about the hunt before and after 9/11 for bin Laden, the development of the drone campaign in AfPak, and al-Qaida’s relationship with America’s ally, Pakistan. Perhaps most damning are the documents showing that the CIA had bin Laden in its cross hairs a full year before 9/11 — but didn’t get the funding from the Bush administration White House to take him out or even continue monitoring him. The CIA materials directly contradict the many claims of Bush officials that it was aggressively pursuing al-Qaida prior to 9/11, and that nobody could have predicted the attacks. “I don’t think the Bush administration would want to see these released, because they paint a picture of the CIA knowing something would happen before 9/11, but they didn’t get the institutional support they needed,” says Barbara Elias-Sanborn, the NSA fellow who edited the materials.

SNIP...

Former National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice has taken credit for the drone program that the Bush administration ignored. “Things like working to get an armed Predator that actually turned out to be extraordinarily important, working to get a strategy that would allow us to get better cooperation from Pakistan and from the Central Asians,” she said in 2006. “We were not left a comprehensive strategy to fight al-Qaida.” Rice claimed that the Bush administration continued the Clinton administration’s counterterrorism policies, a claim the documents disprove. “If the administration wanted to get it done, I’m sure they could have gotten it done,” says Elias-Sanborn.

Many of the documents publicize for the first time what was first made clear in the 9/11 Commission: The White House received a truly remarkable amount of warnings that al-Qaida was trying to attack the United States. From June to September 2001, a full seven CIA Senior Intelligence Briefs detailed that attacks were imminent, an incredible amount of information from one intelligence agency. One from June called “Bin-Ladin and Associates Making Near-Term Threats” writes that “[redacted] expects Usama Bin Laden to launch multiple attacks over the coming days.” The famous August brief called “Bin Ladin Determined to Strike the US” is included. “Al-Qai’da members, including some US citizens, have resided in or travelled to the US for years, and the group apparently maintains a support structure here,” it says. During the entire month of August, President Bush was on vacation at his ranch in Texas — which tied with one of Richard Nixon’s as the longest vacation ever taken by a president. CIA Director George Tenet has said he didn’t speak to Bush once that month, describing the president as being “on leave.” Bush did not hold a Principals’ meeting on terrorism until September 4, 2001, having downgraded the meetings to a deputies’ meeting, which then-counterterrorism czar Richard Clarke has repeatedly said slowed down anti-Bin Laden efforts “enormously, by months.”

And today, there's Bush painting, and Cheney making the rounds on all the news networks.

Ashcroft Flying High

CBS News
WASHINGTON, July 26, 2001

Fishing rod in hand, Attorney General John Ashcroft left on a weekend trip to Missouri Thursday afternoon aboard a chartered government jet, reports CBS News Correspondent Jim Stewart.

In response to inquiries from CBS News over why Ashcroft was traveling exclusively by leased jet aircraft instead of commercial airlines, the Justice Department cited what it called a "threat assessment" by the FBI, and said Ashcroft has been advised to travel only by private jet for the remainder of his term.

"There was a threat assessment and there are guidelines. He is acting under the guidelines," an FBI spokesman said. Neither the FBI nor the Justice Department, however, would identify what the threat was, when it was detected or who made it.

A senior official at the CIA said he was unaware of specific threats against any Cabinet member, and Ashcroft himself, in a speech in California, seemed unsure of the nature of the threat.

"I don't do threat assessments myself and I rely on those whose responsibility it is in the law enforcement community, particularly the FBI. And I try to stay within the guidelines that they've suggested I should stay within for those purposes," Ashcroft said.

Asked if he knew anything about the threat or who might have made it, the attorney general replied, "Frankly, I don't. That's the answer."

But the extent of what happened on 9-11 was far more than that idiot could have expected. No way he would have been able to go about his day, if he'd known what was going to happen. That day was all Cheney's show. The black-hearted bastard. And yes, I'm insulting his parentage, too. His parents should be dug up and hung for traitors, for birthing that sorry excuse for a human being.

It is hard to imagine that there is a Republican presidential candidate from Texas who is dumber than George W. Bush. It turns out that there is.

i have tried, fairly successfully, for the past several years to ignore politics and the majority of crap on the "news" since the death of a family member--my world and mindset has changed dramatically since my mom died.

her and i shared a passion regarding bush & his pals (an extremely negative passion)--she detested him so much she couldn't stand to see his face on the tv! she'd either turn away or close her eyes.

the other day i had the car radio turned to a news station as i was waiting to hear the weather and they reported on that fuckhead's whereabouts with essentially this news blurb:

"Former President George W. Bush said he had a "moment of clarity" while listening to a young girl read in a Florida classroom as his chief of staff whispered to him that the second tower of the World Trade Center had been struck by an airliner on Sept. 11, 2001. Bush says he knew that from then on, it would be his job to protect the girl, her family and their community. The former president spoke Thursday at a college scholarship luncheon in Cleveland, an event that coincided with the 13th anniversary of 9/11"

i think your first photo would have gone along extremely well with the above paragraph.

thanks for posting all of these.

Noonan: You were separated on September 11th. What was it like when you saw each other again?

Mrs. Bush: Well, we just hugged. I think there was a certain amount of security in being with each other than being apart.

President Bush: But the day ended on a relatively humorous note. The agents said, "You'll be sleeping downstairs. Washington's still a dangerous place." And I said no, I can't sleep down there, the bed didn't look comfortable. I was really tired, Laura was tired, we like our own bed. We like our own routine. You know, kind of a nester. Like the way things are. I knew I had to deal with the issue the next day and provide strength and comfort to the country, and so I needed rest in order to be mentally prepared. So I told the agent we're going upstairs, and he reluctantly said okay. Laura wears contacts, and she was sound asleep. Barney was there. And the agent comes running up and says, "We're under attack. We need you downstairs," and so there we go. I'm in my running shorts and my T-shirt, and I'm barefooted. Got the dog in one hand, Laura had a cat, I'm holding Laura --

Mrs. Bush: I don't have my contacts in, and I'm in my fuzzy house slippers --

President Bush: And this guy's out of breath, and we're heading straight down to the basement because there's an incoming unidentified airplane, which is coming toward the White House. Then the guy says it's a friendly airplane. And we hustle all the way back upstairs and go to bed.

Mrs. Bush: And we just lay there thinking about the way we must have looked.

Noonan: So the day starts in tragedy and ends in Marx Brothers.

President Bush: That's right -- we got a laugh out of it.

There are 28 classified pages of the 9/11 Commission Report that are said by Congressmen of both parties who have read them (and are under national security compulsion not to reveal specifics) that they contain vital information that paints a completely different picture of how the 9/11 attacks came to pass than is popularly understood, and that the Bush-Saudi connection is at the heart of it.

I want to see those pages. We have a right to know.

An Open Letter to Condoleezza Rice
Re: 9-11 investigation and Commission testimony ... You knew. You kept silent. They died.

by Catherine Austin Fitts
Former Assistant Secretary of Housing, Bush I

Hon. Condoleezza Rice
National Security Advisor
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

April 9, 2004

Dear Ms. Rice:

I am writing to communicate four points regarding your testimony yesterday under oath before the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States.

Point #1: You are a liar.

Attorney General Ashcroft sits on the National Security Council. Warned by his FBI security detail, the head of law enforcement for the United States knew to avoid commercial airlines on September 11, 2001.

It was your job as National Security Advisor to make sure that the people who flew on American Airlines Flight 11, United Airlines Flight 175, United Airlines Flight 93 and American Airlines Flight 77 had the benefit of the same warnings as those they paid to protect us.

You knew. You kept silent. They died.

You had numerous warnings of the risks of 9-11 – sufficient to let the American people know and use their best judgment as to how to protect themselves from a possible attack. It was your job as National Security Advisor to make sure that the people in the South Tower of the World Trade Center had the knowledge they needed to evacuate their building upon seeing the North Tower hit by a plane.

You knew. You kept silent. They died.

Point #2: Your motives are transparent.

The World Trade Center is in the heart of New York City – one of the great financial capitals of the world. The Pentagon is in the heart of Washington -- the appropriation and accounting capital for the US federal budget and credit and the US Treasury – the largest issuer of securities in the world.

Unlike many other terrorist attacks, these attacks killed people whose family, friends and neighbors understand how these financial systems work. Victim families, friends and the residents of the communities directly harmed can calculate who made money on 9-11 profiteering. They can trace the flow of money into the 2004 Presidential campaign coffers from the profits your supporters made as a result of 9-11 profiteering. They can calculate how 9-11 profiteering connects to the financing and silence of corporate media.

Those personally impacted and the global researchers they network with have the intellectual power and personal courage to ask and answer, “Cui Bono?” (Who Benefits?) They understand that your success as National Security Advisor is as a direct result of your failure to stop 9-11. They can see how your lies about 9-11 made money for the investment syndicate that put you in power and for the buyers of US Treasury securities who are so richly paid to finance the US military, intelligence and enforcement apparatus and the defense contractors and oil interests it serves.

All the campaign ads in the world can not now convince the American people that you have their best interests at heart.

Point #3: You are going down.

The richest and most powerful people in the world pay for performance. They pay you to make the US governmental apparatus look legitimate while they use it to centralize economic and political power. That means they need liars who are better at lying than you.

The myth that you had no idea that Americans deserved to be warned about the risks of flying or planes being used as weapons is now in the dust heap with the notion that the United States attacked Iraq and our soldiers are dying to protect us from Iraqi weapons of mass destruction.

Your lies of 9-11 – like your lies about the Iraqi war – have been profitable for the military-banking complex you represent. These lies, however, have not misled the crowd. The American people and global citizens are looking for the truth. We demand the changes that will give meaning and honor to those who died on 9-11 and in the ensuing wars. We demand an end to further bloodshed. We demand a refund of all that you and your backers have stolen from those of us who remain alive.

Point #4: You are guilty of criminal gross negligence.

If you want to catch a terrorist today, you need look no further than your own mirror.

Many Americans gather this weekend to give thanks that Jesus died for our sins and gave us the covenant of grace. In the spirit of our Lord's crucifixion and resurrection, may God have mercy on your soul.

Sincerely Yours,

Catherine Austin Fitts

Let's keep rewarding the war criminals!

Condoleezza Rice for NFL commissioner?
by Alicia Maule
09/13/14

This was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad week for NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. In light of the scandals plaguing the league, few people at this point would likely call his position a “dream job.” Just so happens, former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice has long been on the record saying that very thing.

Now, many — from Hollywood actor Rob Lowe to Arizona Sen. John McCain — are looking at Rice to rescue the main organization behind America’s beloved pastime. It is widely known that the former top official for the George W. Bush administration has a deep affinity for football and that she described serving as NFL commissioner as a dream job.

”That’s absolutely right,” she told Mike Freeman of The New York TImes in a 2002 interview, ”though not immediately and not before Paul Tagliabue is ready to step down.”

-snip-

“Condoleezza Rice would be a good person for (Goodell) to call and have a discussion with him. I think she can help him,” Arizona Sen. John McCain told TMZ.

"We have not been able to corroborate some of the more sensational threat reporting, such as that from a ----- service in 1998 saying that Bin Ladin wanted to hijack a US aircraft to gain the release of "Blind Shaykh" ...

The above quote obviously points out the 9/11 operation was known in detail as far back as 1998 (oops that was clintons term.. no, never mind) ... <ignore that last part and skip to conspiracy theories> bush knew about an uncorroborated threat... of, um, airplanes getting hijacked. and yea thats proof it was an inside job. Lets discuss that for the next 13+ years.

Christ, honestly, this shit is done and over, and the conspiracy theories do nothing but self perpetuate. Bush was a lousy president. The US has had many lousy presidents in its history. At some point we need to get over it, and hope the voters learn a lesson from the mistake.

52. Let me throw this into the mix:
Sat Sep 13, 2014, 05:36 PM
Sep 2014

PNAC was formed while Clinton was in office. Iraq was on the list. The page was bare for a while, but other voices are well-represented now. Their philosophy is boiler plate media mem and their plans are both frightening and telling about the kind of people they are:

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Project_for_the_New_American_Century&printable=yes

The only reason its doors were shutted in 2006 was that their real 'mission accomplished' was done deal by then. No POTUS after them could undo what they put into motion world wide, not in its entireity, only attempt to mitigate and work around it as Obama has. And they have not stopped fighting him over it, using every form of kind of media persuasion they can, to make his Nobel peace prize principles fail.

They have bought off the GOP justices on the USSC and in every state and district they can for total dominance of all branches of government as they had under GWB, shredding independence.

Only the voters can overturn this. But they may not show up, thus leading to now openly for war Rand Paul and Ted Cruz, both Koch employees, to rule the Senate. The public is kept diverted with many things that aren't true.

IMO, the Election of 2000 was a coup which was long planned, as Jeb Bush took over Florida and GWB defeated Ann Richards in Texas. Other than the rise of RW media giving what I see as the wrong solutions to everything, there was n o pressing need to have them elected. Oh, and I've actually talked to truly low-information GOP voters who literally thought they were voting for Bush, Sr. in 2000! Their lives were easier then as the systematical dismantling of New Deal advantages through the Gingrich years hadn't occured yet and they wanted a return to those 'kinder, gentler' days which FDR gave them as the GOP demonized it.

The Bush boys' victories were well funded and based on appealing to Baby Boomers' fears and resentments during the Carter presidency. It was an explosion of white rage against Progress, no matter how justified.

I think Reagan should have never been allowed to become President, any more than Nixon with what has been unearthed and is now known by the public, but was known by those defeated, yet they knew by then that they had lost in the court of public opinion. Both Nixon and Reagan and later the Bushes, acted with foreign powers to subvert our elections. Now we have others doing the same thing.

During the Reagan years, some found conservative religion to be their way of making a difference and validating their own positions in society, and turned their backs on the democratic society that gave them advantages, which they wanted to hold onto and embraced the defunding of all state and federal functions. National and local MSM gave them a sense that they were justified in hurting the unpopular and poor.

The photo of Bush at the ranch 'on vacation' is frequently cited, as well as the one in the class room as signs of Bush's stupidity and foolishness.

I buy neither of those ego boosting assumptions. It is dangerous to ignore what was really going on and ascribe it to quirks of personality or failures of intelligence. The left is well known for wearing blinders on what appears to me, blatantly obvious. Bush, the GOP, et all are not playing by the same book we are. They are NOT failing in any way. It's vanity to say they are stupid when what they do does not feed our narrative of history and is why they win.

There are, and always have been, parallel systems of economics competing in the USA. That is what led to the Civil War. And the Right wants another one and have poised themselves to take over peacefully, then the war on us will really begin. Although I'd say for some of us, it already has.

I feel the scene of Bush was not a pure vacation as many want to think. It was more of a working vacation with his PNAC buddies at his side, likely. I recall when he was asked about it being out of Washington that month, he said they were planning how to market their 'product line.' That is, the Iraq War.

Yes, that puts me close to the camp that says he planned the war before 9/11, and I think the war was also planned at the secret energy summit that Cheney held right after they got into the White House in 2001. PNAC needed the cover of a Pearl Harbor event to ignite public outrage for their plan. I think that the Cheney types had the war planned for decades, just waited for the right time to get it going.

Unfair, perhaps. But I try to follow the money every time. I regard the Iraq war as the greatest money laundering scheme and the greatest transfer of wealth that has ever occured. We are afflicted with the pirate mentality of 'take the money and run' and the 'let the devil take hindmost' of the spoils left behind. JMHO.

And how does ignoring the August 6 memo get a pass? It clearly spelled out that we were going to be attacked. Watching the horrific events of 9/11 again over the past few days renews the outrage. I cannot imagine that this gets by with nothing more than an "Oops! My bad" on the part of the Bush administration. Why were they (are they) not held to account? Why is this monumental failure on the part of "the commander in chief" brushed aside? Colossal failure? Complicity? It is a national disgrace.
