http://www.blogto.com/city/2014/09/rob_ford_is_out_of_the_toronto_election_race/Rob Ford won't be mayor come November. Just days after entering hospital for treatment on a tumour in his abdomen, Doug Ford has decided to step up and replace his brother's name on the ballot.
A short time ago, Rob Ford's campaign spokesman Jeff Silverstein filed papers at city hall removing the mayor from the race and officially offering Doug as a replacement. It also appears Michael Ford, Doug Ford's 20-year-old nephew who had been on the ballot in Ward 2, is also out of the race.
Earlier today, Doug told the Toronto Sun's Joe Warmington there would only be one member of the family on the mayoral ballot, nixing the possibility that Doug would add his name beside his brother's as a contingency plan. "It would be too confusing," he said.
Polls have shown that Doug presents a less attractive option for voters. The latest Forum Research poll placed Rob at 21 percent, 19 percentage points behind John Tory.

But there will still be a Ford on the ballot. Perhaps Chevy Chase will run against him.

Life-threatening, perhaps.

in my own family...

(135,425 posts)3. Hugo Chavez. At least Ford has access to competent medical care.
Chavez's doctors spent their time lying to him.

The man has enough other problems as it is. I hope he'll be okay.

but there IS an election campaign for Mayor nearing it's end and the Ford family is playing politics as usual. I wish for Rob Ford the best in his fight for his health, I resent his family thinking Toronto is their own fiefdom to be controlled by their family generations.
