I am watching Judge Thokosile Masipa deliver her verdict

(51,076 posts)my lie-o-meter says he was lying his ass off though and if thats the case one can hope he is going to be doing hard time. The girls life is worth more than him simply making a mistake. Hey Oscar maybe having the gun wasn't a good idea after all. You had options other than shoot shoot shoot but having that gun so handy made it too easy to make the mistake of thinking all problems can be solved with a bullet or bullets in this case.

Culpable homicide coming up...after lunch???
madokie
(51,076 posts)I mean they showed that he was lying though his teeth, begging for mercy if you will. The girls life is/was worth more than it being he simply made a mistake.
malaise
(269,157 posts)negligent. He failed the 'reasonable man' test.
It will be culpable homicide tomorrow.
I really expected a verdict today.

(17,111 posts)No matter what the judge is saying, her ultimate conclusion is still up in the air.
I lean towards her acquitting him, but it's too foggy.

(62,276 posts)If the facts that she is agreeing with are the truth, then, well, he's innocent to any rational person.
JI7
(89,262 posts)does this mean she will read the entire thing and we wont know until the end of those pages ?
joshcryer
(62,276 posts)But she seems to be going through the pages one by one.
joshcryer
(62,276 posts)I guess she's reading all 100 pages after all.

(15,945 posts)Don't hold your breath waiting for this verdict; looks like she has about 70 pages still left to read.

(15,945 posts)There is a close-up of her and she is reading a bunch of papers on the lectern in front of her and when she gets done with one page she flips it over and puts it next to her. As of now like I said she seems to have about 70 pages to go.

malaise
(269,157 posts)It's tomorrow but she hinted that he is guilty culpable homicide - she said he failed the 'reasonable man' test and was negligent.

(15,945 posts)Might get him on a manslaughter charge
"The state clearly has not proved beyond reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty of premeditated murder. There are just not enough facts to support such a finding," says Judge Masipa."

(14,061 posts)The premeditated murder charge was kind of a stretch, IMO. However, I think manslaughter was convincingly proven.
ESPN trailer said the reading of the verdict could go on for hours -- or days.

(269,157 posts)Now we wait for the sentence which will be a major problem.
